Hi recently I've got a Christmas job working for Royal mail in the sorting office, I'm going to be working from 3pm to 10pm Monday to Friday starting in a couple of weeks , I'm trying to figure out what meals I could bring with me for dinner or snack ideas, I know they have a microwave and toaster if you could send me your inspirations I would appreciate it :)

I would call that an evening shift.

I normally have breakfast after 10:00 and lunch before 14:00 and get to bed around 23:00.

I usually eat nothing between 14:00 and 10:00 = 20/24 fasting.

Initially, you could take an apple and a banana (or a yoghurt) in case you get hungry.

Thank you :)

Hi Cupcakequeen22 - welcome aboard!

If there is a microwave at work - you can basically make anything and reheat it!

Batch cooking is a good one if you work later / funny hours.

Stews packed with veg, chillies, curries ... all good food for this time of year and all reheatable. Have a look at the daily diary posts and the recipe section if you are looking for inspiration too :)

I work a similar but slightly longer shift. At first I found I was eating an extra meal per day! Nowadays I eat breakfast at 12 just before starting work. In my 'lunch' break at about 5pm I microwave a meal brought from home, usually dal, thick soup, curry, bolognese, chilli, stew (one pot sort of filling cook ahead types of foods that you can batch cook) and a piece of fruit. When I get home I usually have porridge or scrambled eggs, just a small snack so I am not too hungry to sleep.

Good luck with the new job :)

Knowing Royal Mail you'll probably be run ragged so will lose weight that way!😊

I work night shift in a warehouse and only get 30 minutes break. I find that I can't reheat and then eat a big meal in that time and not be uncomfortable doing my very physical job afterwards.

I always take a snack of a couple of cooked veggie sausages or some falafel and a little pot of some sort of dip or something similar.

This keeps me going until I get home and stops me from drooling over the chocolate filled vending machines.. 🙄

Congrats on the job! I would plan to have a big lunch and take some soup to heat up in the evening.

Hi,

I quite often work 08:00-21:30 and tend to have sandwiches for lunch and dinner leftovers for dinner from the night before. Recently I’ve brought curry, sweet&sour, fajitas, pasta bake, just to give ideas
