Hi there , i have read loads on keto, and it sounds right for me and my new lifestyle, , today i got weighed my starting weight is 17stone 1 pound, i would like to loose 2 pounds this week on this plan, i also spent quite a lot of time preparing food in the kitchen today as back to work after a week off, have loved researching keto recipies to make soups and salads with foods i grown, also noticed my local super market is regularly marking down veggies and fruit, so that adds to the bonus , which i am enjoying , i have not missed bread yet, but have said farewell to choc bars yesterday.

shall post here again in one week (watch this space )

Let us know how it goes! And post pictures of your home-grown stuff :)

I wouldn't get too hung up on exactly how much you're going to lose right away. Some people lose 5lb in two weeks, while for some unlucky people it takes a while to kick in. You really have no control over it.

Any diet should be for the long-term, and low-carb is no different. You don't need to remain "keto" for more than a couple of weeks, but if you can avoid going back to a "balanced" diet (ie., one that makes you fat) then you'll reach your target weight within a year at the outside.

I'd recommend buying some 'Ketostix' (test dipsticks for urine acetoacetate) to measure when you're in ketosis. They're not expensive, and it's kinda fun to check that your body is responding in the right way.

Someone might have mentioned it, but there's also an LCHF group if you're interested.

Make sure to get enough salt! Starting keto can make you feel crummy, and salt helps. Make a pot of bone broth (for all your minerals) and have a cup every day.
