Anyone here portion counting?

9stoneandcounting profile image

I’m planning to get back on portion counting (British heart foundation plan). Anyone else here had a go? How did you find it?

I believe IndigoBlue61 used that very plan, 9stoneandcounting, so hopefully tagging her will bring her here, to offer some words of wisdom :)

Yes, I used that plan, and found it really useful, and lost weight with it 😊. It makes calorie counting so much easier

Good luck!

It says those portions make up 1500 and 1800 calories. Do they? It seems like too much food to make 1500 and 1800.

How did you make it work with the range the NHS BMI counter gives? For me the BMI counter says 1900-2400, yet BHF says 1500 calories a day?

My targets were set by a dietitian but it was around the 1500 calorie mark, maybe try for the 1800 and make up the extra with some good fats like nuts, avocado and olive oil. From what I remember it’s quite a low fat plan. Calorie targets are just a starting point, you will soon see if you lose weight at that level 😊

Thank you. That’s helpful :) The other issue I have is days like today where I am going to a relatives for dinner and have no idea what we will be eating.
