Maintaining a positive start to the day

I'm feeling very positive today. I'm pleased to have started on my journey, my eating has been good so far and the sun is shining. I have a busy day and early evening planned and feel confident that I will continue to control myself. The risk area for me is when I get home (or on my way home) at about 9pm tonight. My normal pattern is to buy food on the way home or to "hit the fridge" when I get home. Does anyone have any advice or tips to stop this happening?

Speaking for myself, orwell, I made some new rules, eg, no dropping into the shop. Shopping to be done at set times, with a list and only for the ingredients required for meals. No snacking between meals. No 'junk' food in the house. Eventually, the rules became new habits and I don't have to think about them, I just do them :)

Once I started planning my meals and shopping, it significantly reduced the "just popping in" behaviour. And what isn't in the house can't be eaten.

Another tip (if you're a driver): pay at the pump rather than the till, then you don't have to walk past those endless rows of chocolate, crisps and ice cream :)

I snack all the time, opening the fridge is my go to when I am stressed. My solution (not that I maintain it constantly, but I try) is to always have healthy options in that fridge. Yogurt, overnight oats or chia seeds soaked in coconut milk. Or home made protein balls (easy recipe is to mix oats, peanut butter and maple syrup together and form little balls). Or hummus toast when I need something savoury. As for the shops, try to plan your meals for the day and order on line. This way, there are no surprises at checkout :-)

My answer would be to do some batch cooking when you're not working and put some Homemade calorie counted meals in your freezer so that you have ready meals for every day that you work :)
