Bad start

So since joining last week, I haven’t exactly been following anything. Every day I kept saying to myself right today’s the day and then BOOM before I know it am half way through the cupboard eating.

I do this thing at the end of the day where I lie to myself and say not to bad then I think back on what I’ve eaten and think jesus...

So here’s my true diary... my first step to sorting my life out.

Age:23 (just turned)

Height: 5ft 6

Weight: weighed this morning at 19st 1lb 😑🤢

Daily food diary:

B- 6:30am Banana, 8am roll and sausage (3link, buttered and tomato sauce)

L- 12:30 tandoori chicken baguette from Greggs (bloody thing was full of cals!!!!) didn’t think to check. Prawn cocktail crisps, kids size crunchie.

T- homemade steak pie... yes I had the pastry but only a little. With broccoli, turnip and mash potatoes probs butter in them cause gran made it. And a crispy cake homemade.

S- home made strawberry log roll (gluten free) with double cream... and another chocolate bar.

I can see where I’m going wrong and it’s my food choice. But I just can’t seem to break it!

Physical activity:

Steps so far 12,806

Active mins : 64

Why don't you log this on the Daily Diary and weigh-in, Emma and join everyone else? Being part of a group is motivating and makes it much easier to stick with.

Don't forget to lock your post.

No, your post isn't locked. You can tell, because there's no grey padlock at the top.

Well done for getting so organised.

Have a think about what moreless has mentioned as they are good ways of committing and helping to stay focused.

The only way to do it is to do it emmasdiary . Remind yourself what your goal is. Have post-its on your food cupboards if that would help. One of those wise sayings I heard recently: discipline is choosing between what you want now and what you want most.

You're on the right track because you're being honest with yourself. Carry on writing down everything you eat, every bit, and look back at it at the end of the day.

Start planning: decide this evening what you're going to eat tomorrow (being realistic) and write it up in the Daily Diary. Doesn't matter if you haven't counted the calories at this stage; just make your decisions for tomorrow, put them in writing and try to stick to them. Tomorrow evening look at what went well and any blips. And go through the same planning for the next day.

Don't be hard on yourself. Making changes and breaking habits isn't easy, but little changes and little successes can be so rewarding and will push you on to the next step :)

Calorie counts are readily available on-line, along with nutritional values, and chains can be quite good with their info. Your Greggs baguette was 499 calories.

Hi emmasdiary, well done for posting and getting involved, we're here to help! Don't despair, just get organised. Like a lot of folk have said, calculate your bmi, write everything down, and plan where you will be and what food is available, or make your own! Clear out those cupboards of snacks that you can't resist, if they're not there, you can't eat them. Google searches will find most food, and even if you eat from a canteen, google and estimate. Print out the weekly fill in charts, on the website week 1,2 etc. They really do help. You will get there, go food shopping and get some good food in your cupboards, even some healthy ready meals. I can personally recommend the lidl steam meals, the salmon and linguine one is my favourite. So, fresh start, get organised, good luck! :)
