Hello,

Being a new here in the weight loss group i was wondering how everyone copes with the removal of crisps, chocolate and biscuits. My partner doesn't need to lose any weight but he always seems to have things in the cupboards to eat. I then get frustrated quickly when i get an urge to eat it and when i do I go into full eating mode.

someone help!!

Also advice on great snacks would be helpful!

Thanks in advance!

Welcome to the forum Emma,

I to struggle with crisps and chocolate, biscuits I'm not so interested in. Some people go cold turkey and just stop. That approach doesn't work for me, I just crave it, so I allow myself some crisps at the weekend, same with the chocolate if I really feel the need. I have, however, found that the less you eat it the less you want it. Options hot chocolate drink is great for those chocolate moments and comes in at just 40 calories and there are lots of flavours.

Great advice lucigret and exactly what i was going to say, don't cut it out - just cut it down!

There are some lower calorie options out there as well. Skips come in at 89 calories a bag and a 25g pack of butterkist toffee popcorn is just over 100 calories

There is a great Tom Kerridge recipe out there for a chocolate popcorn sweet treat which has marshmallows, rice crispies and popcorn covered in dark chocolate.

A bit higher are 4 pink wafers at 180 (45 calories a wafer) but if calculated into your calories - why not have anything in moderation!!

These are just a few go to's i've used before if i've fancied something but i am sure there are loads of others out there.

What i've had to stop completely is buying a big bar of Whole Nut and eating it in about 5 minutes! LOL

My husband just does not even contemplate healthy food, he has the knack of taking something healthy and destroying it by adding sauces, butter, cream, etc... So I decided to make my own choices for me. I was overeating chocolate, ice cream, biscuits, particularly in the evenings, real binges that sometimes made me sick. I can’t have a couple of squares of chocolate, or one scoop of icecream, I’d have 3 bars of chocolate, 2 litres of icecream. So I have stopped and it’s surprising how quickly the cravings go. When I want something sweet I have fruit with low fat fromage frais and some drinking chocolate on top. Not everyone agrees with low fat but if I want loads of something, I can satisfy the “need” like this without doing much damage. I do have small amounts of fats, oil in dressing or for frying. I wish you well on your journey, keep in touch with forum.

Thanks Annie! I shall try the hot chocolate pouches!

Hi emmasdiary , I have the exact same struggles as you. I’m only on my second week and managed to fall into a vat of chocolate and junk food at the end of my first week. My husband is also the same where he can eat anything he wants and STS. It’s so annoying. This week I had a plan in mind to stop eating chocolate and biscuits but not restrict my husband.

I now have my own cupboard for some healthy yummies, some homemade others brought in. I have found this week to be easier because I’m not seeing my massive triggers.

This forum is amazing. Please keep using it, the people here gave me the confidence to not give up and the strength to start again. xx

Hi Emma welcome 😊

My go to, if I feel the need for chocolate is a Freddo 😋 under 100 calories, counted in 😊 as long as having a little bit of chocolate works, it's fine - if it makes you want to eat everything in the cupboard, probably best not to eat any - we all have to work out what works for us, we're all different 😊

Crisps wise, I like snack a jacks, sunbites, pombears I think are around 90 cals a pack & French fries (crisps not from McDonald's! 😋)

Good luck 🤞 ☺️
