1 kg in two weeks

When you have 10 kg to lose, 1kg in two weeks feels a bit underwhelming. I know technically it is progress, but I still feel overwhelmed by how much i have to lose.

I did not feel particularly restricted in my diet this week, and I have to admit i did eat some chocolate and cake, but most days i did what I have never done - counted calories and tried not to exceed 1600. Not easy!

I found making delicious and well seasoned veggie soups to be a great way to get lots of finer and nutrition and they were easy lunch solutions. Oat bakes with ton of apples and pears also worked great for breakfast and snacks. I would be happy to share some of the recipes i came up with if anyone is interested :-)

Good luck to all and let me know how you stay motivated when faceted with such huge weight loss! Have a lovely weekend!

1kg loss is good going Mimi_new_mum so please don't feel down by it. Remember the weight didn't go on over night so it is not going to come off over night either. Why not set yourself small monthly targets to aim for and break the 10kg up.

Glad your not feeling restricted with the plan. As it is a healthy eating plan and not a diet it is not restricting other than the amount of calories you eat as it a life style change for long term.

We would love to have some of your recipes so please feel free to post them and we can add them to our recipe section in Topics. :)

Thank you so much! I shall post my recipes there, thanks so much for the tip. So far i have enjoyed the challenge of making low cal but delicious foods. I am such a foodie and found the idea of low cal foods quite daunting at first, now i quite enjoy making good food but not exceeding my daily aims in calories. I hope to keep it up, motivation is the hardest one for me, can feel a bit down looking at the pre pregnancy photos :-)

Welcome Mimi! Goodness 10kg isn’t a lot, considering. And 0.5kg a week is what I tend to aim for. I’ve lost 15kg so far, but I put 2-3 kg back on everytime I go back home every 3 months, so I’ve yet to start maintaining. Currently back to trying to lose 2.5kg, then another 1kg before maintaining.

Please don’t feel that way, it’s a change of lifestyle not a quick fix.

Oh, my motivation....is when my clothes go baggy and I can slip back into my jeans from 4 years ago!!

I definitely have a pre pregnancy dress i aim to get into one day and that presents both a motivate and sometimes a terror feeling that i have changed my shape so much I do not recognise the person who used to wear those tiny clothes! I guess this process is filled with ups and downs and keeping the motivation going all the time is unrealistic. So long as we have more good days than bad, i assume the weight will fall off eventually :-)

Oh it does, don’t worry. But don’t leave it. I left it for too long, as everyone said ohhh it will come off eventually. No, it didn’t. But now I’m so happy!!!

I think 1kg in 2 weeks is great, Mimi_new_mum Mimi_new_mum as Rose has said, the weight doesn't go on overnight, so won't just fall off. That's 10% of what you want to lose 😊 not feeling deprived, having cake and chocolate, and still losing weight? That's a win win in my book 🤗 establishing better eating habits for life is the aim, not only losing the weight but keeping it off, so don't be frustrated, feel pleased with your progress, and keep on keeping on 😊

Thank you so much, I think my expectations were perhaps a bit unrealistic. It is definitely my lack of experience in thinking about food and calories, but I enjoy the challenge and making delicious food which is good and contributes to the weight loss goal. I just hope I keep the motivation going :-)

If you haven't had to think about the food you eat before, it can be overwhelming, but it sounds like you are doing the right thing, especially if you are making your own food and enjoying it - that's half the battle 😊 enjoy the journey, the destination will be all the sweeter when you reach it 😊😋

Mimi_new_mum - Don't feel overwhelmed, losing a little at a time is great and remember that you are losing - that is still a great achievement!!

Would love to read some of your recipe ideas - i've found that in the topics section you can post under the different recipe headers and loads have shared different ideas.

If you put them in there you can share with everyone then :)

Hello and welcome Mimi 😊

Congratulations on becoming a mum, these are such special times, ❤️ please don’t spoil them worrying about getting back to your pre-pregnancy shape too soon, it can take up to a year to recover fully from pregnancy. Healthy eating and gentle exercise will reap rewards 😊

Best wishes

Anna
