Hi everyone. I’ve just signed up to help me get back on track with my weight loss. I’ve been doing Slimming World and lost almost 3 stone but have put half a stone back on. Slimming World doesn’t seem to be working for me any more so trying something different. I’m very active, usually doing 3 to 4 aerobics type dance classes a week and I try to get in 1 to 2 sessions of strength based exercise a week as well. I also try and fit in fitness yoga once a week but this depends on work as it’s during the day. I love attending fitness weekends too. I’ve got an active social life which means I often go out with my husband and/or friends so that involves alcohol and meals, I have a terrible sweet tooth and generally love all food. I don’t smoke. I have a sedentary job mostly computer and meetings based. I’m going on holiday at the beginning of a June and I’d love to get to my full 3 stone loss before then.

Hi Donbon79 and congratulations on your overall loss, even if you've put on a bit you're still 2.5 stone to the good. Impressive amount of exercise as well.

What do you think isn't working for you any more? You have an active social life but I'm guessing you've always had one or has something changed since you started your journey.

Many of us here are following the NHS 12 week plan which is calorie based and requires mindful eating and drinking.

An admin will respond shortly, supplying you with a link to information on how to get the most from this forum.

Good luck on your continued journey.

Hi Tiggerr.

My social life has been the same through and I’ve always drunk (too much) alcohol on nights out and still managed to lose weight each week. I got to my SW target at the beginning of May last year and managed to stay within my target range until Christmas but after putting a couple of pounds on then it seems like more keep creeping on. I’m still doing the same amount of exercise i alsways have, if not more.

I’m not really following SW properly anymore, although I try and most my meals are SW friendly but I just feel like I’ve lost my way with it. I really want to get back to where I was but I keep sabotaging myself. I eat something I shouldn’t then get annoyed with myself afterwards and feel guilty.

I think combining calorie counting and SW will enable be to get back to where I was this time last year and hopefully a bit more. 🙂

Sounds like you know where you need to be. I'm going through the same issues and finding it hard to get back on an even keel.

Hoping to reset tomorrow as it's my weigh-in day :O

Good luck!

Hi and welcome, Donbon :)

If I remember correctly, SW offer a lot of food as 'free', including carbs, which may be why you've stopped losing weight. All food has a calorie count and you can now make the decision how best to 'spend' your calories :)

Thanks, moreless. I think the free foods that are carbs are my issue and I can do days where I avoid eating them but it’s hard to do that long term. I think portion control through calorie counting should help. 🙂

Hello and welcome Donbon 😊

I think lots of us can relate, i’m finally shifting some weight I regained, tho about 5 lbs, I’m being brutal and have opted for 1200 cals a day rather than 1500 for 3 weeks, totally my choice, since i’m a nibbler

Rethink how and why you’ve gained, always add up your calorie allowance daily................you have to be accountable too.

Try and google where you go food wise, it’s very annoying that places can do meals without displaying calorie guides, as for alcohol, give up maybe.

Good luck

How do you stick to 1200 calories and feel satisfied, Diana? I’m worried reducing my calories to 1400 a day will be hard enough! 😳

I’ve slight over eaten the last two days, ( 1500 cals) mainly cravings, sugar ones, I could have eaten so much cake and fresh cream today , I resisted it tho, just ate a nugget of cheese tho!

I’m just occupying my mind and hands, and watching YouTube far videos, which does help

Can someone tell me what the 2 stone means next to my name please?

2 stone is the amount of weight you've lost, isn't it Donbon?

Ah I see. It’s more than 2 stone thankfully but it won’t be unless I start behaving myself. 🙂

And where do I log my weight? I just can’t seem to find it!

Hi read your story and feel the same, have regained almost 2 stone of the 4 I lost so am really not wanting to get to 12st!!! I know its because I am not counting calories and I lost by sticking to 1200 but the only way I could do it was to not eat anything with carbs or sugar and no alcohol. However after a year I had reached target and maintained and then i lost my way after Xmas because we moved house! just do not want to regain the lot so have decided it is the wine cake and chocolate easy to say hard to stop. i just don't feel as good as I did so am trying to focus on feeling better, because I haven't eaten those things and not deprived, so hope that helps, best wishes

I can avoid eating carbs but absolutely cannot lI’ve without sone form of chocolate every day. If I did I really would feel deprived! I think that’s why SW worked for me because I could still have chocolate etc. I’ve always had alcohol and would struggle to cut that out due to my social life. I only drink when out. Never at home unless I have friends round. We still need to get on with the normal stuff we do! I’d rather be extra good on the days I’m not doing anything to compensate. 🙂
