Hoping to meet other newbies

Hello and I am glad to part of this community. Although I don't know what to expect, I am putting myself in a space where I need to change my eating habits, learn to balance food and excercise more. I am positive about this journey and hope to do something different and lose weight. Thank you for readimg and hope to read as many stories along the way.

I have downloaded the NHS weight loss app and now have to get my head around smaller portions. I hope to win :)

Hi GetfitVee and welcome.

You sound positive and ready to start.

If you're using just the app be wary as it doesn't have the full functionality of this forum that you get from the web based version.

An administrator will respond shortly and provide you with an official welcome. Shout out if you have any questions about anything.

Hello GetfitVee . You'll find a lot of Newbies once you follow the link moreless has sent you.

Also, the less-newbies among us are also learning as we go along, and sharing experiences and information, so I hope you'll join in.

Good luck :)

Great attitude! I started 4 months ago and have discovered a few things. First is that while you have to be careful about the portion size of Calorie-rich food, this doesn't mean you have to eat child size meals - simply find ways to include more Calorie-light foods eg, make root vegetable mash instead of all-potato mash, instead of ice cream have frozen yoghurt (Moo2Yoo is gorgeous). Don't think of any foods as 'sins'. Enjoy a small portion of favourite treat occasionally - make it special by presenting it on a plate and savouring every single mouthful - think Japanese Tea Ceremony rather than a quick cuppa! Finally, think of your Calorie limit as a weekly average, not a daily goal - that way you can save up Calories for evenings out and special occasions. All the best - I'm sure you're going to do well.

Hello Pam,

Do you know that really encouraged me as getting into this calarie counting is like learning a new language. I have written every thing I have eaten down, but tomorrow I may have to plan a little bit more so that I can stay in a routine. Will definitely think about Calorie light foods and a weekly average. How has your journey been this far? Sound like you have a great attitude towards weight loss.
