Welcome Jonny96, The weight loss surgery is an extreme measure and I hope you can find a safer and far more successful solution here with us. We all understand the difficulties of trying to lose weight. On this forum you'll find plenty of advice and support so please stick around.

Hi Jonny96 . Welcome to this wonderful forum. I have been a yoyo dieter for 35+ years and jumped from one slimming club to the other with limited success just to see the weight go back on plus some. You have youth on your side and you can lose the excess weight without surgery and doing limited excercise. YellowRose55 has given you a guide on how to use the forum and I suggest you give it a good read, look at the NHS 12 Week Healthy Eating plan and check out the NHS BMI Calculator which will give you a personal daily calorie allowance. There's a weigh in daily and Sundays is open until 10pm. The support on the forum is fantastic, non judgemental, available 24hrs and free. Win win.👍☺

I am female 5ft 3 and had a BMI of 39 when I started which is coming down. Don't think of this as a diet but a healthy eating plan and you will succeed. Wishing you well on your journey.😊

Welcome Jonny,

There is definitely a workable path that doesn't require surgery. Follow the link that YellowRose has supplied you and start from there.

Whilst exercise will assist in weight loss it isn't a prerequisite to weight loss. There are people here who aren't able to exercise and yet lose weight. It mostly boils down to food management.

Shout out if you have any questions at all and good luck!

I was referred to Your Shape programme by my GP. I attend weekly classes on diet and lifestyle followed by a training session. I have found that tracking my calories intake by using Myfitnesspal app forces me to be aware of every calorie that goes into my mouth. I have been able to keep to 1500 calories a day and still feel full by eating healthy foods. I am 2 stone lighter than at new year and feeling much better, mentally positive and more energetic. I hope that these can be of help to you too.
