fed up of being sore

hi, ive weighed myself today at 19.1 stone . i am aiming for 12 stone so have a long way to go. I have had to sit around for the last 1.5years due to several injuries. I had a fall which gave me a deep hole in my leg draining blood clots down to my foot , back fracture and concussion November 2016. I have literally staggered from one broken bit to another till now.

I have osteoporosis due to a hysterectomy for ovarian tumours 11 years ago when i was 40 yrs. since November 2016 I have had 7 vertebral breaks, and a recurring slipped disc, broken ribs, broken toes as well as the concussion. The disc moves and things snap sometimes with the simplest thing, most recently lifting a pot off the cooker yet other times I can muck out for 3 hours a morning at the stable :/

I ordered a fitbit yesterday and am going to start small walks as Im too nervous to try floor exercises , I was told several years ago not to do impact work and recently not to swim due to the back positioning.

I play bass drum in a pipe band and I do not want to have to give this up but right now I cant carry the drum , last year I played some events in a wheelchair.

I am gluten and lactose intolerant .

Is there anyone who could give me advice or who has similar issues please?

Thank you :)

Hi and welcome, logwoman :)

I'm so sorry that you've had to contend with so much, but while exercise is good for mobility, it's not essential for weight loss. Your diet will play a much bigger part in that.

The 12 week plan can be adapted to suit any allergies/intolerances/dietary needs.

I also have mobility issues so can understand your frustration. But as Moreless has said, exercise will only play a small part in your weight loss. The trick (if you can call it that) is truly accept that any changes are permanent. I feel so much fitter and healthier for losing weight, no food is worth the risk of going back to where I was.

Good luck

Please ask if you have any questions

I have gone from 17 stone down to 13.5 it has been a slow process I have cut out things like bread, potatoes, and sugar whilst upping protein and vegetables like carrots and runner beans. I didn't start exercising until I had lost about 2.5 stones I think it is more important to learn how to track what you are eating, eat the right foods and portion sizes then start a gentle exercise regime. I loose about 0.5 to 1lb a week I find at that rate the weight stays off except when I go off the diet over Christmas when I put on about 7lbs and spend the next 10 weeks loosing it. I would recommend loosing weight slowly and making small changes in your exercise gradually over time the benefits are tremendous.
