Something had to give.

I've been overweight all my life and it's never affected me. Married, had children, had a good job I've now retired from enabling me to spend time with grand children and friends.

During a holiday with friends last year I became breathless and tired. On returning to the UK I saw my gp who referred me for tests. I have atrial fibrillation and it's affecting my life.

My eldest has moved to south Wales. I'm unable to visit as I struggle to walk any distant at the moment. Likewise doing things with friends is a challenge.

The medication will take time to work because of my size and further options carry risks.

For the first time my weight is impacting on my quality of life. I'm 57 with years left hopefully, so I need a reality check and start the process of losing weight in a SMART (specific, measurable, achievable, realistic and timely ) way.

My mum is similar in age to you and she was referred to physio for her leg and now is on a program to improve her fitness.

Good luck with your weightloss journey.

You have come to the right place. Everyone is so helpful and friendly, and none judgemental.

One of the reasons I decided it was high time I lost weight was when I woke up several times during the night with palpitations. Not nice, and I reckoned if I went to see the doctor, he/she would tell me to lose weight. Over the last couple of years I have lost over four stone.

I only found the Weight Loss NHS a week of two back, glad I did. ;)

Obesity and metabolic diseases have become the world’s biggest health problems. In fact, at least 2.8 million adults die from obesity-related causes each year Metabolic syndrome affects over 50 million people in the US, and can lead to a variety of health problems To combat this, many diets have emerged, few of which are actually backed by research The benefits of the ketogenic diet, on the other hand, are well-supported by science.

There is strong evidence that ketogenic diets are very effective for weight loss.

They can help you lose fat, preserve muscle mass and improve many markers of disease.

In fact, many studies have compared the recommended low-fat diet to a ketogenic diet for weight loss.

Findings often show the ketogenic diet to be superior, even when total calorieintake is matched.

In one study, people on a ketogenic diet lost 2.2 times more weight than those on a low-calorie, low-fat diet. Triglyceride and HDL cholesterol levels also improved.

Many people incorporate MCT Oil into their diet (it increases ketone production and fat loss) by drinking ketoproof coffee in the morning.
