Day 2: Semi Successful

Might not be an achievement to many but making it to day 2 of my healthy eating/lifestyle change is a huge hurdle for me. I tend to only make it to day 1 lunch time and I'm already raiding the snack drawer for a pick me up. Day 2 and I haven't even thought about those tasty maltesers I have stored away πŸ˜… I have however had a sneaky bite of my son's wimpy burger (couldn't let it go to waste πŸ˜‚) and I may've took a detour on my way home to Costa for a cheeky hot chocolate... Few sips and I felt guilty so my partner had the rest. On a serious note I'm taking a different approach this time. Instead of cutting everything out and feeling deprived from my favourites I'm going to continue to eat the things I love in moderation and make healthier choices. A lot of people have mentioned lifestyle change... This is what I'm aiming for.

Wish you all success with your journeys. X

I think if you count the calories (I use the myfitnesspal ap to do it) then you can factor in the treats - so long as you are honest with how you 'spend' the calories.

Very well done on reaching day 2!

And if you fall off the wagon, just get back up and on it as soon as you can.

Have a good week!

That is the best option in my opinion. Do not say I can’t have because as soon as that is said you start craving for it and you soon give in. I know I did and still do. As long as you are sensible about things you are able to eat most thinks. Look at it as healthy life style and not a diet. This is for the long Hale not a quick fix. With all the support on this forum you can and if I can do it anyone can. All the best

Well done!!! I’m at the end of day 7 but the first few days were hardest. Until you tread on the scales and see how your hard work is paying off!!! Look forward to your first weigh in πŸ˜€

Great work UNDISCOVERED8 . You have kept going for two days and that's brilliant. We all know how hard it can be to get started, and then to keep going.

I approve completely of your approach of not depriving yourself . I am very partial to a trip to Costa myself, I like the way you can sit there and read a book or in my case do some knitting and no one bothers you!! I went out of my way to research the calories in their drinks. I allow myself to have a latte occasionally , but now have a small instead of a medium, But I often have a cappuccino instead which is even lower. There are ways to have our treats but in a smarter way!

Keep going. Research ways to have things you enjoy eating, and fit them into your calorie allowance, it can be done! Good luck! :-)

Well done for making it to day 2! One day at a time is all it takes.

You have the right idea of eating your usual foods in smaller amounts. My partner and I love a hot pudding as a treat during this cold weather, and I have recently bought some individual fruit crumbles and sponge pudding desserts. We split one between us, so halving the portion...makes it "affordable" on the calories. We alternate a "treat" day with a lighter dessert such as a mousse or fromage frais the next day.

Looking forward to hearing how you get on...x

I agree with everyone else . You have made a start. Posting on here helps as we all have a common goal . The longest journey begins with those first steps . Could you take a few short walks as those burn the cals with little effort . Good look and let us know how you are getting on plus any tips .

Congrats on your second day!! Everything in moderation. So you do not get deprived and binge. I am just starting my second day and that is my plan too. Best wishes on your journey!

I am now in my 4th week and find that if I check the calorie count and see how expensive in terms of calories a [ treat! ] would be , I now make a decsion to have a healthier and larger portion of some thing else. good luck .

Well done and good luck with day 3. It's all small steps that help add up to the complete change. I had a chocolate biscuit on Friday felt guilty but I actually didn't enjoy it and it didn't hit the spot so next time I probably won't bother because I will remember the disappointment! But I started in September and my taste buds have definitely changed!!

Well done, the longest before now I have lasted on a diet is less than a day, but I have just completed 2 weeks of my new plan and feeling very happy. I know what you mean about not wasting the kids food and that is one of my (many) downfalls. Like Seuzan I am using my fitness pal, alongside a fitbit zip and I like that I can have stuff if I want but it does make me choose the healthier options as they are lower in calorie and I can have more. Saying that, today is a test as we have a birthday at work and there is walnut and coffee cake, carrot cake, toffee apple cake and white chocolate and raspberry cake, as well as muffins, chocolates and biscuits just sitting there. Trying to be strong!
