Hey 👋🏻

Hey 👋🏻

Hi All,

I’m Dani 31, I’ve decided to give this a go as I’ve been doing slimming world for a while and seemed to have lost my way! I’m starting the the couch to 5k tomorrow too. Got my running shoes 👟 ready! Haha I am looking forward to my journey. I quit smoking 6 weeks ago so I need to gain some new healthier habits 😃

I have never done a calorie controlled diet before so if you have any tips for me that would be great! Thank you in advance and happy new year to you all 🎆

Hi and welcome, Dani-elle :)

You sound a lot like me. In for a penny, in for a pound! :)

I'd like to invite you to join our Newbie Club, which we hope will be a good place for you to connect with members, who are also just starting out. If you just post a few words to introduce yourself and respond to others there, you'll soon break the ice. Here's the link

You'll find all the information you need to navigate the forum in the header, so please take the time to read it carefully.

Wishing you all the best :)

Hi Dani 👋 happy new year to you to! 🎊

Welcome to this fab forum, my tip would be to try and cut down on processed foods including refined carbs. Any carbs you do have make sure you weigh them as portion distortion is a mistake I have certainly made in the past 🤗

Have you found out what your personal calorie allowance is yet? If not check this out by using the nhs BMI Calculator, your personal range is displayed on the same page as your bmi score nhs.uk/Tools/Pages/Healthyw...

I have yep! 😃 I’m not too far off the 1400 so I’m going to stick to that 👍🏻 hopefully I’ll get somewhere!

What kind of lunches do you have? And thank you for the tip 🤗

If I’m out and about or at work then a good choice is:

1/4 cup of dry quinoa (simmer for 15 mins on the hob with double the amount of water)

When cooked mix with:

chopped cucumber,

chopped tomatoes,

28g chopped feta,

chopped spring onion,

tsp of olive oil & a

tsp of apple cider vinegar (can use any vinegar really like balsamic if you prefer)

pinch of dried coriander, salt & pepper.

It’s approximately 190 calories, you can also add a boiled egg for an additional 85 calories plus double the quantities and make enough for two days.

If I’m working from home I make soups bulked out with lentils 😋

Good morning Dani, Happy New year to you.

My name is George and I have been trying hard to lose weight.

I have just put the weight back on, I do have other issues, leg injury and knees.

I really appreciate the help and support from all on the group forum.

I'm going to try and get out doors as much as possible.

I wish you success in your journey.

Kind regards George 56 ☺

And welcome

Calorie counting is the way to lose weight.

I lost 1 stone 7 lbs from September to December by doing that. It’s calories in v calories out.

The big companies out there which I’ve tried basically do that but either in points or sins. They are also a business.

Sign up to my fitness pal - free, and start logging everything that goes past your lips.

Then you need to create new habits, like hitting a min if 10000 steps a day, drinking at least 2 litres of water.

Seriously it works and Iam back to doing that this week after a couple of weeks of not counting calories.

I can’t exercise much as I have a bulging disc . But I will start when I can as I miss it. If you include exercise you will lose faster. And remember to up your protein. Keeps you fuller for longer.

Good luck!
