Im battle with weight loss over the last ten years. I tried NHS weight loss groups, slimming world, low fat diet, gym , cutting sugar and drink more water, tablets and reading books. Still nothing a shift the 16stone 9 pounds. I hate exerise and i cant stand breakfast most moring. Im sick and tried. Im tried all the time and all the joy gone out my life because it feels like a must do. My cloths cost more because of my size. I want to enjoy my weight loss but i dont know how to. Im not enjoying my food or workouts at all

I know what you mean. Ive seen some god awful pictures of myself these past few weeks and it’s seeing them that has finally prompted me to get off my backside. That and the fact I can’t get a decent coat to fit around my upper arms! I don’t have mirrors at home and avoid them.

I’m taking it slowly. Starting out with short walks for a purpose - to the shop, post box etc. It doesn’t feel like exercise then. Deliberately getting fewer items than I need so I have to go back the following day, adding extra minutes to the walks.

I walk up the stairs with one object, leaving something else downstairs so I have to go up several times. If the tv is on I march on the spot while one or two adverts are on, or walk around different rooms, just to add steps. I was given a Fitbit for Christmas and that is also quite a good motivator. Not strictly accurate with steps, but it shows how inactive I truly am.

I learnt to swim this year and, miraculously, I go. Ignoring other people who don’t care anyway.

I struggle cos I’m still on meds to prevent return of cancer and I have Hashimotos (under active thyroid) so constant fight to keep mood up and shift weight.

You’re starting again, so that’s a good thing.

Maybe choose one or two foods you really like and adapt recipes adding one or two extra foods as you go.

I’m going to put cost of SW/WW away each week and save as much as possible then do something I really want to do. Not decided on what that will be yet, but it won’t be buying things or clothes.

Hello and welcome Geriboo29

Great attitude about taking it slowly. You'll find that the general ethos here is to do just that.... and enjoying yourself along the way.

Great going on the swimming that's very impressive and definitely ignore other people, it's your journey and you are all that matters.

Sorry to hear about all you're going through but you sound like you're making a good fight of it.

Well done for getting involved here so quickly as that is the sort of attitude that makes the difference in the long run.

I'm tagging in an administrator Ceals so that you can also have the official welcome.

All the best :)

What an inspirational post Geriboo29

Well done on learning to swim. It's a great investment in your future health. I'm a keen swimmer... It's not only a lovely exercise but it's a great break and I get headspace. Other swimmers are only concentrating on themselves and are generally supportive of others in the water.

You are fabulous and you are doing great 😂

Hi and welcome, I would suggest getting involved with the daily diary on here as you may find that it helps. I have not really been that hungry as with the proper amount of calories with the right foods it is surprising how much you can eat and still lose weight. Good luck with it. James

See whether you can change your attitude by talking about activity rather than exercise

Any activity is good as you use energy

Some very good suggestions have already been made

This forum is very helpful and you will be offered supportive comments and excellent shared experiences

I don't want to talk like a T towel

But

Baby steps and one day at a time
