Hi all, just starting today! I've been heavy most of my life but got to a healthy weight in my mid twenties for 3 years, then regained it after a serious injury. Its been years since that injury but I haven't been able to lose the weight again. I tend to find myself going to extremes, which I think is mentally unhealthy, so part of my battle is keeping mentally healthy while pursuing physical health. I really believe intellectually that slow and steady wins the race/makes for a sustainable lifestyle, and yet I find it a harder way to go in a way. I am hoping a community of support will be helpful is lasting the whole journey.
I honestly don't even have a scale, so I'm going to try to focus on tracking my behaviours rather than my weight, which can fluctuate due to water retention etc. I have certain items of clothing that I also use as a gauge to tell me if I'm going in the right direction.
Unfortunately, I have a fracture in my shoulder at the moment, so intense exercise is not an option for a few weeks, so my focus will be on what I'm eating for now and I can start fitness with some lower body exercises and walk. That's the goal!

Glad you are here!! Sorry to hear about your injury. Just take it one meal at a time and make small changes. You will do great!!
You have gone through the wars, but have come out the other side, with a greater understanding and I'm sure that being part of this supportive community will be just the thing, to help you achieve your goals
I'd like to invite you to join our Newbie Club, which we hope will be a good place for you to connect with members, who are also just starting out. If you just post a few words to introduce yourself and respond to others there, you'll soon break the ice. Here's the link
I don't have also a scale, but it's not important, because your body tells you, how it feels.
I know exactly, how you feel at the moment. The injury cannot hold you back from your weight losing aim.
I recommend you to walk in a fresh air for 30-45 minutes. Eat everything, but in little amounts and drink a lot of water.
Don't forget the rule, that after the physical movement it is not recommended to eat for 30 minutes. Then you are burning your body fat and losing weight.
By the way, what kind of exercises you are doing?
E.g. I am doing exercises only for 5-10 minutes. In order to get the problem areas of my body (butt, stomach) fit, because I don't want to lose my motivation and get bored or force myself to do the exercises.
If you start to enjoy everything you do, then your body is not in a stress and you are losing weight naturally and you are not the victim of "yo-yo effect."
