Bad day

17 pounds lost, and week 5 tomorrow. I was feeling really miserable today, and for the first time In 4 weeks and 6 days I had a bad day! I had two packets of beef hoola hoops, a chocolate bar, a choc ice and about 5 mouth fulls of rice pudding - all because I was miserable. I am naturally an emotional eater ( which is why I am over weight) I am now feeling terrible. The only thing I am focusing on is looking to loose 2 pound minimum this week to counteract the binge eating. I don’t know what to eat this week to help aid a good weight loss week. Any help or advice is greatly appreciated x

One bad day is not the end of the world, really. It probably feels that way at this moment in time but just give your head a wobble, get up tomorrow morning and start again. Wipe the slate clean. I bet you (and I'm not a betting person) that you will lose this week so please don't let one 'bad' day become a bad rest of the week. That would be a pity. Get plenty of water down your neck. That will get things moving 😉

And I meant to say - very well done on the 17lbs in that amount of time! That's amazing!! xx

Yes I do feel good about that, that’s why I feel so terrible. I have to say that after eating it I felt as fat as I was at the start! I know I haven’t put 17 back on but isn’t it strange that you feel much fatter after a binge!!

It's all psychological. We're only human and 100% being good is very difficult. Suppose we've just got to accept that we will slip and try not to beat ourselves up too much about it. It's how you recover that matters. I need to learn this! Come back and let us know what you've lost this week. When is your weigh in day if you don't mind me asking?

It's going to be fine! Do drink the water though (if you don't get enough already). I believe it really does make a difference 💦 Good Luck xx

Hi Charley6 , you must have been doing something right to lose 17lbs in your first 4 weeks. That's really impressive!

You're not the only one here who is an emotional eater and, for me, that's not something that's addressed in a matter of weeks; it's a long term effort.

You've had a lapse (OK, fairly big style ;) ) on one day in 5 weeks. Please be kind to yourself and look at the progress you've made, get back to what you have been doing to lose those 17lbs; remember there aren't any tricks to healthy eating, just persistence and picking yourself up when you trip. No reason why next week shouldn't be as good as your last four weeks :)

We all have bad days from time to time Charley6 so try not to be so hard on yourself. Just draw a line under your bad day and move on. If you want any ideas for meals or to plan your day then take a look at te Daily Diary where everyone shares their menus for the day.

You are doing brilliant to lose 17lbs in the last 5 weeks and to celebrate your achievement so far I will give you your first 1stone badge. If you hoover over your week 5 badge you will see your 1st one. Well done. :)

oh my darlin. Charley I feel for you. I did the same thing today with a couple of ice creams and barbecued ribs for dinner. I have had a terrible 2 days with lots of pain and no sympathy from the hubby. so I ate today. but tomorrow I will be back on my simple, smaller portions with little to no sugar. it has helped me lose 16 pounds in 6 weeks and I have kept it off. I feel good when I eat smaller portions of whatever I cook for the family along with lots of veggies. I bought some small veggie trays for my lunches at work today and feel good about that as well. we only have 30 minutes for lunch and as a smoker, I smoke more than I eat so this will be perfect to keep my blood sugar up. enough about me. I recommend that you eat more veggies than anything else and continue to pat yourself on the back about the 17 pounds. that is terrific!!!!!!!!!! together, we can do this. I am an emotional eater but I find that when I eat correctly, it makes me feel better than when I eat badly. this is not to say I do not eat perfect when I am emotional, obviously! but I do try not to get so emotional that I eat myself into a coma like usual. anyway, chin up doll! this is a great way of changing your way of eating (not dieting) and you can do this!

Well done for posting Charley.

Firstly, don't beat yourself up, these things happen (for me in the past week) you're just going to have to put it behind you and carry on.

Breaking those links with food don't necessarily come quickly but try and think through what the key moment was and see if you can plan to do something differently in future. Eg. Do you have fruit to hand or some other healthy snacks that you could try and substitute next time or tell yourself that you'll have a large glass of water before you have anything else.

You've done really well so far and you will get past that moment and move on.
