Day 38

This group is helping me to over come a life of addiction like never before.

I have been in countless rehabs and hospitals in my life. Any time away from drugs and drink simply led me to over eat.

When I say over eat I mean to such a degree that it made me ill. I could eat 2 main meals followed by up to £10 of junk.

I would literally force feed myself when I was no longer needing food.

The think that's helped is dealing with trauma from childhood. The NHS has been incredible in the help I was given.

Also the police who dealt with 4 of the men one of whom was jailed last year for 24 years.

This trauma kept me locked up because I didn't grow emotionally as a child into adult hood.

Abuse in chikdhood stunts growth into adult hood.

I read a book called Adiction, A Human Condition which helped me through the door into finding away forwards.

This group is a wonderful place simply because it's kind and caring unlike some peer to peer group's I tride where 'tough love' was seen as something useful.

I think most of us carry trauma to one degree or another so if this is you do push your doctor into seeking out meaningful help that goes beyond the normal 6 weeks therapy one is offered.

Thanks everyone for what you share in here.

Have a lovely day and keep going as I will also do

I have childhood trauma too that I treated with drugs, alcohol and food. I have control over all three now and it feels good. Glad you are doing well too.
