Oh bliss! My mum used to make delicious syrup and sometimes jam suet puddings when I was little. I'm going to make this today, I'm sure without the suet I can allow for it within my calorie budget. Just a little and hopefully freeze the rest.

Thanks for sharing.

Morgancando , dazzle and Villageduckpond I did a rough calculation, using butter not marg and it came to 1600cals for the whole pudding. I am sure you can work this into your calories for the day and enjoy it :D

After all it is halloween :D:D:D

Mammou , sorry which microwave recipe are you talking about, please? It seems a long time since a sponge pud cooked in the microwave was on the agenda (mine at least).

Thanks for doing the calculations. So an eighth is only 200 cals just need to work out the custard cals now. Looking forward to it.

Glad to be of help Morgancando Please let me know how big an eighth is so that I can see by how much I should up it for the whole family. I normally do not make pudding, but think I am going to treat my family this weekend as both my sets of children and grandchildren will be here for Sunday lunch :D

I'm going to cook the entire cake as per recipe then with a bit of guess work divide in to eight. Hopefully it will freeze well in individual portions.

Mmm, sounds nice. Plus 1600 calories is below my daily allowance - so could have that for breakfast and still have 400 calories or so left for the rest of the day. :-)
