Making a commitment to loose weight

I am 71 years old and have diabetes type 2 and been advised to loose weight as I am obese as indicated on the bmi indicator.

I go to a gym about twice a week and try to have a walk quite often (perhaps not as often as I should walk). I have a on going right knee restriction due to an earlier twist and lock up.

I am going onto the step by step NHS course which I have done about 2 years ago.

The course is very effective and I lost about 5kg.

I am determined to keep up to date with this course as well.

Dear Mike, I thought I would write and let you know my experience to encourage you to lose all the extra weight you carry. I will be 71 this Monday and on June 29 this year was told I was overweight and pre-diabetic. I researched and came across the eight week blood sugar diet which was written by Dr Michael Mosley. I was determined to reverse my blood sugar levels and implemented this Together with walking at least 10,000 steps today and swimming 30 minutes daily. Within eight weeks my blood sugar levels had returned to normal. This book records her Dr Mosley who was himself Type II diabetic reversed his condition and he is now free of diabetes. It means changing Your style of eating so that you only eat complex carbohydrates and low GI foods and of course you avoid sugar. As soon as your weight drops back to normal you will find all sorts of health benefits. It has cured my dodgy kneeIncrease my energy levels and decreased my hypertension. I was quite inactive beforeBut now I make sure I walk every day. I have not found it burdensome to leave out bread potatoes pasta biscuits and cake From my diet. I counted calories assiduously .

I am now normal weight within the healthy BMI range and have never felt better. If you don’t have the book I really recommend you get it as well as the recipe book that goes with it because you can change your health dramatically in just a few months best wishes

Thank you Anna,

Thank you for your kind reply and I will try to obtain the book by Dr Moseley and improve my diet and of course up my exercise (I do like swimming).

I am encouraged that you have been able to obtain a healthy BMI and wish you well with your efforts to living a healthy life.

I do have books on diets and have information on keep off high fat and high sugar foods and should adapt more rigidly to this. It is all up to the individual to make an effort.

As a coincidence my wife name is Anna and she is a lot more sensible about her diet.

Thanks again for your reply,

MikeT

Hi Mike, thanks for your reply. I love the name Anna but I am pcrw. My granddaughter is also called Anna so if your wife has that name she is in good company with Anna 61 who is one of our wonderful administrators.
