No exercise weight loss?

Hi all - I'm new today! I am recovering from recent surgery - doing very well. But I cannot exercise apart from gentle walking for 12 weeks at least. We have planned a holiday over Christmas and I really want (and need) to lose weight. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to lose weight with little exercise? I am 5ft 3, and weigh just under 11 stone. Would eventually like to get to 9 stone, but initial goal is to lose 1 stone. Thanks!

Hi and welcome to the very supportive forum Amethyst16 :) sorry to hear you have had surgery and I wish you a speedy recovery, take it easy and do as your Dr has advised re exercise :)

Calorie counting is a good way to go - follow the 12 week plan (but change the exercise for some gentle walks :) The NHS 12 week plan can be found in the Newbie club and there is loads of information in the Newbie club to help you around the forum :)

I would like to invite you to join our Newbie Club, which we hope will be a good place for you to connect with members, who are also just starting out, or re-starting.

If you just post a few words on the October Newbie Club thread to introduce yourself and respond to others there you will soon feel part of the club.

Follow this link to the Newbie club: healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh...

Please read all the information carefully, it is very useful and can be referred to whenever you want to check something.

It just remains for me to wish you well on your journey

:)

PS this place is addictive and I look forward to seeing you around :)

Absolutely u can lose weight. I have periods of time when I can't exercise and lost 2 & 1/2st. In fact exercise doesn't really help with my weight loss aa I can go wild...I just do it to get stronger. So gentle walking will def help.

As long as u stick to your recommended cals u will lose. Good luck & welcome to u ☺

Hi,

Just start calorie counting as exercise is useful but not needed if wanting to drop the weight.

I have MS and am very inactive but still managed to lose weight. Maybe not as fast as others can but it is definitely possible!

Good luck.
