How to feel feminine when overweight?

When I look into the mirror, I do not like the image I see. it is good that I am addressing my weight but I feel less feminine and being single in my 30's it bothers me a lot.

I would just like to ask the community their thoughts on this. How do you feel feminine whilst overweight?

Maybe instead of focusing on what you don't like, try to focus on what you do like, picture yourself slimmer and keep positive to reach your goals.

I'm in my 30's, single (happily though) and overweight too so I can understand some of what you mean.

The things I can suggest are based on the sorts of things I've been doing myself, but I don't know if they will appeal to you or now. But here they are - dress in ways to accentuate your newer figure as you lose weight such as showing off a trimmer waist. Treat / reward yourself with things you enjoy as you lose weight, maybe get a really nice hair cut instead of a simple trim, buy a flattering new outfit, go for a spa treatment, or if you wear glasses maybe a new pair and such like.

Hope this helps.

If I am feeling down on myself I pamper myself a little and make sure I wear something or do something that makes me feel happy and proud.. it might be a nice outfit or necklace...or a hair cut.. I am feminine whether I feel it or not.. I just need to reinforce it in a way that works for me.. i don't know what your reinforcement might be... Good luck!!!

Funny - I was thinking the same thing a few days ago. Not for me specifically but there can be days when I just feel yuck so I knew there would be others out there who probably felt the same.

Have you ever looked at photos of overweight women and thought they looked great? I have, and I have even thought they didn't need to lose weight to look good. They already looked amazing.

And the common denominator in all of them is grooming.

A bit of makeup (doesn't need to be a lot), a tidy hair cut/style, and a nice outfit (not drab and badly fitting). And I bet they are not wearing plain budget store granny panties either lol.

Maybe try a little eyeliner to highlight your eyes (if you don't already wear makeup), or a bit of a trim to tidy your hair if needed. Even check out some second hand clothing stores or bargain shops for a new top.

A little bit at a time :) ( I just bought a new top with a bit of a pattern in the material. Cost me NZ$10. Looks good on and I don't feel slobby in it )

Happy shopping :D

For years I didn't feel very feminine and I wore dull clothes to try and blend and hide away. I don't know what the turning point was, probably after I had lost a stone in weight some time ago and joined a gym and started to look more toned. I did all the things that have already been mentioned. I have always looked after my hair and used make up, but I had a better hair cut and treated my self to new make up and I bought some pretty underwear which made me feel far more feminine. I plucked the courage to go and have a bra fitting and that really made a difference for me. The woman was great and told me where to go to get good supportive pretty bras - not 'bolder holders' lol.

Ooo good 😊 thanks for sharing will check them out 👍

Do your hair and makeup and dress nice no matter what. That's what I'm trying to do right now. It does make me feel a little better.

lol. I am sure that you do not look like the fat controller. I think we are all hard on ourselves but it is nice to know that I am not alone in this thought. thank you all.
