Hi

I am 26 and currently almost 14 and a half stone! Before I got pregnant I had lost 3 stone and got down to 12 stone. Since I had my baby i can not seem to lose the weight! I have lost all self control and snack on bad foods a lot! I eat too many take aways and need a kick up the arse. I am hoping to lose atleast a stone and a half by Xmas! I did start doing a Charlotte Crosby dad again but the past couple of weeks it's just been back to no exercise and too much food. I need to lose this weight it makes me feel awful. I am here to try and get some help and some encouragement. Any new mums or people with this kind of experience who can help me. My baby is 6 months soon and does sleep through but i have a lot of broken sleep getting up and down all night with him putting his dummy in etc... which i think is why I cba anymore! Please help any easy diet plans would be helpful too.

Thanks in advance.

Hoping to lose 4 stone altogether gradually not a quick fake fix! No shakes please don't try to sell me anything!

Hi and welcome Fergie26 :)

You have definitely come to the right place for advice and support. Well done for making the first biggest step! No one will be trying to sell you anything here either.

There are plenty of things to get involved in here eg The Daily Diary, where you log everything down each day what you will be eating, and how many calories everything contains. There is also a weekly weigh in, just pick a day that you would like to weigh in on, then keep the same day every week.

One of the Administrators will reply to you with more advice in a few hours. Someone is usually around from 7am.

Wishing you all the best with your weight loss journey :)

No worries Fergie26 no one's going to try and sell you anything... except sound advice about how you can look after yourself.

It's good that you're thinking about this in terms of gradual weight loss. This is considered to be the best approach for most people.

Like blackbeauty has already mentioned, an admin will reply shortly with a link to lots of useful information about the forum and ways to move forward.

In the meantime, the NHS 12 week plan (which many of us follow) is available from the 'Home' page, if you look down the right hand side.

Welcome to the supportive forum Fergie26 we do not sell anything :)

We also don't see this as a diet but a new healthy way of eating which enables us to lose weight and then maintain :) Have a good look at the NHS 12 week plan and the BMI calculator which will give you your personal calorie allowance, all this info can be found in the Newbie Club :)

Therefore I would like to invite you to join our Newbie Club, which we hope will be a good place for you to connect with members, who are also just starting out, or re-starting.

If you just post a few words on the October Newbie Club thread to introduce yourself and respond to others there you will soon feel part of the club.

Follow this link to the Newbie club: healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh...

Please read all the information carefully, it is very useful and can be referred to whenever you want to check something.

It just remains for me to wish you well on your journey

:)

PS many of us on here have been where you are with sleepless nights etc it does get better ;)

Hi fergie26 ☺️ Like you I'm a mum to a little one (just 3 month old now) and I know how tired you must be feeling. Now is a great time to look at what types of snacks you have access to in the house as your little one must have recently started weaning? Also you could try thinking "would I like baby to try what's on my plate?"

A few of the things I've started doing that do seem to have worked (all tips from this fab forum) are using the NHS bmi calculator to work out my calorie range and sticking within this, putting everything I eat into MyFitnessPal app and then looking at where things can be improve, for me I was eating too many carbs so I have now swapped these for wholegrain and reduced the amount I eat by making sure I weight them or substitute them for things like sweet potato instead of normal etc.

Good luck on your journey and congratulations on the birth of your baby 💕

Welcome and congratulations on your little boy.

Now to concentrate on you! You're a great role model to your son focussing on your long term health.

What works for you? Joining a club where no doubt you'll meet other new mums or maybe an online course?

Best wishes😇

I am now a Grandma, but remember well those disturbed nights and stressful days following the arrival of a new baby. Lack of sleep is the biggest problem I feel, as when you are tired, it is so hard to not eat comforting carbs.

Have you looked into finding a support network among other new mums? Sometimes you can mind each other's babies whilst one of you has an afternoon off - to shop, read or just sleep! Are there any family members nearby who can help out at all?

You will have more energy for exercise (even just pushing the pram around the block) if you have had enough sleep, and then you will feel more pleased with yourself and more able to choose wisely when you eat. Remember you are not alone out there.

Enjoy your baby too....they grow up too fast, so take him/her swimming, down the park, arrange play dates. Find out what is out there for toddlers in your area. Wishing you all the best!

Wow thank you for the replies! I have never been on any kind of forum etc so i am hoping being able to speak to people will in itself help me.

Unfortunately I do not have family close by and my husband's family are more interested in his sisters children to help us out. We are also currently relocating so i may look into this when we have moved (from Devon to Scotland!) Which at the minute is a lot of coming and going which i think is also adding to the non healthy eating. I do find I am brilliant Monday to Thursday and then i just get fed up and tired and subconsciously give up. Starts with a biscuit and ends with a Chinese 😣

I will get onto the newbie link now and have a look at the weight in etc see how it Goes!

Thanks everyone! ❤

Ah great to see you concentrating on long term not quick fix! This forum is a brilliant support if you want to make a long term change to your health. Ive lost 2 stone in about 4 or 5 months. Not a huge loss but its been gradual and i dont see it as a diet. Im trying to reshape my brain as well as body!

Hope ill see lots of you on daily diary planning your food. IMO calorie counting is the only way. Its hard to be motivated when u have so much on ur plate (haha pun not intended) but u can do this making tiny changes..stay with us!!!
