Hello I am Anniedoot Just celebrated another big 0 birthday and this time I need to do something about my weight I have got to take this seriously Although I don't think my diet is to bad , in fact on the whole it's pretty healthy I cook everything from scratch . Obviously I'm doing something wrong perhaps eating too too much so would appreciate any help especially from other golden oldies. Thanks

Hi and welcome Anniedoot - Happy belated birthday :)

There are a lot of us on here that cook from scratch and loads of recipes in the recipe section :)

I'd like to invite you to join our Newbie Club, where you can meet other new members, who are also just starting out. . Here's the link

Hello Anniedoot and welcome.

It does sound like you're already doing lots right, such as cooking everything from scratch, and that it may well be down to portion size.

If you follow the link that cracker10 has already provided, it will help you understand in more detail, whether that is the case or not.

Staying in regular contact with this forum really helps to stay focused with both losing weight but also in maintaining it once you've reached your goal.

Wishing you all the best.

Portion control is essential, and watch the odd glass of Wine too - it all adds up. Find some steep hills to walk up, good for the heart and burns calories. Don't overdo it of course - build up any new exercise gradually...a little further each time. Gardening too is an excellent calorie burner, and keeps you out of the kitchen. The only problem with being a good cook is you are always surrounded by food....!

Keep trying you will get there. If nothing more your weight won't go up which is at least some positive 😀👍

At 51 I don't know if I qualify as a golden oldie!!! But welcome and best wishes to you. Glad you're giving it another go as it's really important to never give up on yourself😂 Even people who maintain a healthy weight have to go back to the drawing board at times. So good luck to you and post often. We've all been there and you'll be a support to other people too 😂
