Make sure you are including lots of fibre/bulk, so salad stuff, vegetables.

I find a salad takes a lot longer to eat (much more time than a sandwich!) and usually pack those up when I am away from home for the day. I found myself a nice little salad pot which has separate sections to put a little pot of dressing and also comes with knife/fork/spoon (I usually have proper utensils though!)

I usually add some chopped ham, tinned drained tuna, chicken slices, etc. I also love a few olives and beetroot or chopped walnuts or pecans. You could also add some drained tinned beans or chickpeas.

Also, make sure you drink a big glass of water before you eat. This will also serve to make you feel fuller.

I agree with what pinapple said .. drink before you eat .. I find apples help fill me up and I always add extra veggies or fruit and make the main portion part of lunch or dinner a bit smaller ..

i think I failed previously becuase I was always hungry

good luck and let us know how you get on :)

Hi MBQ,

Take a look at the Recipes/Meals/Snacks Topic and log onto the Daily Diary, for ideas.

It's also important to increase natural fat, for satiety and decrease those foods that will make you feel hungrier, ie high GI carbs.

Boiled eggs and almonds are great for filling you up and smoothies made with some avocado in them are very filling. If like me you don't like avocado I guarantee you can't taste it😊

Make sure you're eating enough.

I always draw a line under my lunch with a cup of tea. It's my 'that's that stop now' digestif.

Totally agree with everything that the others have already mentioned.

Might be a dumb question but what do you mean by 'feeling full'.

I know that I now don't eat until I feel bloated and on the odd occasion that I do, it's not a feeling I'm happy with.

Alternatively, I can finish a meal and feel that I could eat more. All things being equal, I know how many calories that meal was and I have to appreciate that that's all I should feed my body until the next meal.

I mean after a couple of hours i'm hungry again but when i eat takeaways i dont feel hungry for a good frw hours

Yeah, drink water before meals. I like to pack tuna salad or chicken salad with fat free mayo, grapes, celery, onions. Cherry tomatoes and nuts, fruit. Grilled chicken with veggies. Chicken stew, tilapia stew. Check out the recipe section for lots of ideas. Good luck!!

Packed lunches - also a challenge for me sometimes. Try salads with quinoa and some pre cooked lentils. They need olive oil in my opinion as a minimum so make your own dressings to avoid the sugars and cheap and bad oils in pre- made dressings.

I would recommend you buy a large lunch box which can accommodate separate containers of salad leaves (you can cram loads into a box then which will help fill you up.)

Carrot sticks, shredded fresh raw beetroot and unsalted nuts will always help make your lunch more filling but also drink plenty of water because some people make the mistake of interpreting a need to drink water for hunger.

If you can, drink at least 750 ml of water at lunch time and avoid coffee and tea for at least 1 hour after lunch.

Some people habitually need to end a meal with something sweet. Try dried fruit such as apricots or raisins or if your system can cope with them, dried prunes (2 or 3 is enough). A couple of slices of malt loaf is also fine for this.(without butter!)

The combination of all the above will, after a few days, help your stomach resume a state of "normal" quickly after eating during the middle of the day......the key is to find a consistent pattern which works for you but which also stops you grabbing the junk foods.

Finally, consider drinking water in the morning rather than coffee or tea. Water will help your body metabolise its fats and your breakfast and as such can assisting diminishing the body from "calling for more" at lunch time. Don't skip meals though, you need your system metabolysing food rather than seesawing from supply and famine. The latter will actually make the body convert food to fat faster.

Good luck and apologies for my warped humour :-)

No seriously. Perhaps you can try to find lower calorie alternatives so you can eat more? ? Protein and some good fat (like the lentil and olive oil option suggested above) are helpful to make you feel fuller longer

From my experience Moreless is right, try to eat low GI foods and good fats. Betterbeeman gives some very good ideas. Adding cooked lentils (low GI) with homemade olive oil based dressing (good fat) is something I enjoy too. Good luck with it. James
