Plant based diet

Hi.

Just wondering if we have any plant based diet eaters in the group? Im a bit of a yoyoer when it comes to eating meat/eggs/dairy or not but I'd like to head back into the not section. Just wondering how people find this sort of diet and calorie counting style plans? Thanks

Many of us are eating less and less meat 😊

I've been transitioning for a while now, but I haven't shouted it from the rooftops. I live with an omni, and I sometimes buy and cook meat for him. Today I even ate his meat dish leftovers because he wanted to throw them away. I have had some full months of 100% plant-based eating, 3 so far I think, but I have to set up 30-day challenges for myself to do that. I was considering a new 30-day fully compliant streak challenge, thanks for the reminder! 🌞

Hey lollies,

I'm not vegan but I'm vegetarian so maybe I can answer some of your questions. My consumption of diary is limited to yogurt and I'm don't have eggs that often. For the rest, I've found that a plant based diet is less caloric than one including meat. I'm not saying that there isn't vegan junk food but as a rule vegetables are less caloric than meat or full fat cream.

If you're transitioning I'd recommend talking about it with your GP or to at least following the advice of the vegan society. They have numerous tips for beginners. You'll find that you're not the only person adopting a plant based diet at the beginning of a weightloss and they are tons of recipes out there. If you lack inspiration, there is a channel on YouTube 'High Carb Hannah', it's a woman who adopted a plant based diet to lose weight and loss over 70lbs. She gives advice, recipes and even meal plans in her videos if you need to.

If you have any questions, I'd be happy to try and answer them :)

Thank you for your reply. I find that when plant based I eat masses of carbs, which don't fill me only cause bloating and then I'm hungry again. I use oat milk day to day as my youngest is dairy and soya free due to allergies/intolerance. But eggs I eat lots of, more so than meat and I am struggling for a high protein plant based alternative

You should try different types of vegetables and maybe take out the ones that make you feel bloated (it could be onions too though). For the protein, eggs have lots, tofu has even more than meat and is low in calories so you could use that. There are also the meat free Quorn alternative which is also soya free. Lentils and beans are also high in protein.
