Looking for advice re: weight loss stalled

61 years young weighed 54 kg up until 55 when my thyroid gave up, in the next 5 years I ballooned to100kg whilst they got my thyroxine level sorted.

I have since lost 14kg through changing to a high protein diet and giving up red meat and bread, I swim 5 days a week 3km, Cycle 5 day a week up to 100km and run 3-4 day a week 15-20km, I now weigh 88kg.

My problem is I seem to have stalled at 88kg for a few weeks now,

Any advice on how to restart my weight loss, I would really like to get to 65kg

Hi and welcome

Take a look at the Pinned posts section to the right of your screen (bottom if you're using a mobile), or in the drop down on the 'Posts' page (it says 'arrange by'). Read the Welcome Newbie thread, then move through to the challenges, where we hope you'll find at least one that will appeal to you.

Move down to the Topics, to find a variety of threads, collated into specific topics for ease of access and we ask that you also 'file' your own threads, so that others won't miss your important news.

Have a look at the NHS 12 week plan, as many people have had success with it. Also use the BMI (can be found in the pinned Newbie post) to find your target calories, it's important to eat enough. This was a major turning point for me, realising I could eat anything I wanted as long as the calories are accounted for 😊

Don't forget to take your starting measurements and a 'before' picture, as they can be very motivating on days that the scales refuse to co-operate 😊

To the right of the HOME page (bottom on a mobile), you'll find Events. In there, you'll find links to our daily Weigh-in's (you will choose just one day per week), our Daily Diary, where we post our menu and exercise plans, for accountability, advice and support - which is great to get ideas of what other people are eating and I have to confess to nicking some of their menu's and our “What's happening today” thread, where we pop in for a chat.

Be aware, that the HU app doesn't give you access to all of our important features, so we advise that you use the full website page

We've found that to get the best out of this community, we need to be active on the forum, as it's where we exchange information, get motivation and inspiration and make friends. We hope that you'll join us here, regularly, too 😊

Wishing you all the best on your weight loss journey

I did the 12 week plan while back was losing 500-600 grams a week , I've now stalled out on weight lose for a month now not lost any weight in that time, I'm doing the Great South Run in October and was hoping to lose another 5-6 kg as I ramp up my training so that the week before I can start carb loading for the event, but even as I've increased my mileage I'm still stalled out on weight loss and was asking if there is a way to reinvigorate my weight loss.

Porcia18 you are actually new to the Weight loss forum, which is why I have given you the welcome information ;)

We all plateau at times, but as you are doing so much training the fact that you have not lost weight maybe because you have gained muscle - have you taken your measurements?

I would re-check the NHS BMI calculator with your current weight etc and see what the calorie range is to see if that has changed

I wish you all the best on the Great South run in October :)

I would definitely re-check the NHS bmi calculator as this does change as you lose weight and cracker10 may be right about muscle too but also do make sure you are at least eating in between the right amount of calories as if you don't eat enough your body thinks you are starving it and turns what you do eat into body fat and this weighs more than eating the extra calories so this stops you from losing weight and sometimes puts weight on instead. Good luck with your journey.
