Last time you posted in HU Weight loss was 2 days ago and you received 6 replies and received positive comments you thanked those that replied

As for belly fat I can not advise and none of us on here are medically trained - we are all here to support each other on weight loss

Take a look at the Pinned posts section to the right of your screen (bottom if you're using a mobile), or in the drop down on the 'Posts' page (it says 'arrange by'). Read the Welcome Newbie thread, then move through to the challenges, where we hope you'll find at least one that will appeal to you.

Move down to the Topics, to find a variety of threads, collated into specific topics for ease of access and we ask that you also 'file' your own threads, so that others won't miss your important news.

Have a look at the NHS 12 week plan, as many people have had success with it. Also use the BMI (can be found in the pinned Newbie post) to find your target calories, it's important to eat enough. This was a major turning point for me, realising I could eat anything I wanted as long as the calories are accounted for 😊

Don't forget to take your starting measurements and a 'before' picture, as they can be very motivating on days that the scales refuse to co-operate 😊

To the right of the HOME page (bottom on a mobile), you'll find Events. In there, you'll find links to our daily Weigh-in's (you will choose just one day per week), our Daily Diary, where we post our menu and exercise plans, for accountability, advice and support - which is great to get ideas of what other people are eating and I have to confess to nicking some of their menu's :) and our “What's happening today” thread, where we pop in for a chat.

Be aware, that the HU app doesn't give you access to all of our important features, so we advise that you use the full website page

We've found that to get the best out of this community, we need to be active on the forum, as it's where we exchange information, get motivation and inspiration and make friends. We hope that you'll join us here, regularly, too 😊

Wishing you all the best on your weight loss journey :)

Hi Saad,

Cracker is trying to give you advice on how to get the best out of this forum. If you read other people's posts, you will see there are no quick easy answers. It's a long journey for some of us, but we do our best to support each other along the way. Don't give up!

Hi Saad, you could try the Happiness Habit on this site. It's good training to focus on the positive and to appreciate the small things in life.

It also helps to look back on the good in our past and draw strength from that for our journeys now.

Give it a try, it might help get you over this hurdle, which is temporary.

There's a pinned post - Happiness Challenge day 218. Its on the right hand side on the home page. Click on it and have a read of the instructions.

The suggested video is a must see.

Good luck.

I'm so very sorry to hear that. Talking helps, so do talk to us. Lots of us have gone through periods like that in our lives. These phases come and go, there will be light at the end of the tunnel, hang on in there. 👍

If you are feeling very depressed and need someone to talk to privately you can always ring the Samaritans on 116 123 or email them - jo@samaritans.org. They will treat you completely confidentially and will listen to whatever you have to say.

Hi Saad.

I am sorry you feel the way you do about this forum (and also the Mental Health forum). From what I can see people from both forums are giving you replying to you but it seems you do not want to hear what they are saying. You say you are unhappy with being overweight, are you blaming being overweight for being lonely? You say you have no friends or family because you have treated them badly in the past - could this be the reason you are lonely? Could you be over weight because you eat to fill the loneliness?

If you hate your life then YOU have to change it, nobody else can do that for you. To do that you have to listen to people. This is not a place where specialist, professional or medical expert advice is given. It is a place where people give each other support and share ideas of what helps them. If you are wanting professional health advice then I suggest you start with visiting your GP and come here for extra support.

I wish you well

Life is full of ups and downs , your obviously in a bad place right now. Only you can pull yourself out of a rut. I watched the TED video suggested on the happiness challenge and agree it's a must. Good luck with finding something to be grateful for as it really helps for your mind to practice happiness.

Where

Go to news feed in 1st button above and scroll down until you find the happiness challenge. It will point you in the direction of the 1st post which has the video as well as a happiness test with some advice on how to get happier. Give it a go, the happier you are the easier it is to loose weight. Not to mention the lower your stress levels the less your body will hold on to fat, so mindfulness may also help. Just keep trying you'll get there.

I'm sorry you feel so low at the moment. While I have no wish to pry I have had friends who have gone through depression also.

You have got tremendous support on here and you have had some good advice. We are all in this together and I have very much appreciated the replies I have had. We are supporting each other and just "normal" people in the meaning that we are not medical experts on any particular specialism.

My friends first hurdle was to admit they felt like this, that's very hard and I admire you for being honest. Please take advice, see gp, call a helpline, you aren't on your own there are lots of lovely people on here. And don't expect quick results but follow up on advice from gp. I have had counselling myself after the loss of a baby, but you need to see your gp first for this. It's very slmall steps but as another member said, you need to do this yourself.

I hope you feel a little better today. I am not going to presume all is fantastic now but I wish you all the best and you have done the first thing, so well done.

You cannot lose belly fat. You can't lose fat in one specific area of the body. If you could, we'd all be doing it. You have to lose fat, and some inches may come off your belly.

You can lose weight by utilising the advice the others have given you. Getting your BMI calculated, and aiming for the lower end of your calorie allowance range to lose weight. Exercising to help it along. Limiting your white carb intake i.e. white bread, white rice, mashed potatoes, and looking for alternatives such as wholemeal bread, brown rice, cauliflower, etc.

AVOID sugared beverages, even fruit juices. Avoid sugared treats like biscuits and cakes, I'd say don't even bring them into your home (if you can), and buy fruits, crackers, and oat treats as an alternative if you're the type of person that snacks a lot.

Download a calorie counting app, and use it for as long as you deem appropriate, until you can roughly guess off the top of your head.

That's what most of us have been doing.

Come here everyday, and join the weigh ins, the daily diary, and maybe you can even do the happiness challenge with us.
