Hi all my name is Claire & I'm from Scotland. I am on my 3rd big weight loss journey in 6 years. In 2012 I lost 7 stone then gained 8 in 2013 so I dieted again in 2014 loosing 9 stone this time and guess what .... yip I put it all back on by 2016 !!! So here I am 2 stone in to this hopefully last weight loss journey. I was so disappointed in my self for allowing myself to make such huge gains after all the effort I had made twice !!! So determined this is the 3rd and last time.

I just genuinely love food and can eat for two grown men, no other reasons or excuses but I certainly don't like the way or makes me feel. Looking forward to being motivated and getting/giving support & advice x

  • Hello Lottie77 and welcome to the Weight Loss Forum and very well done on losing 2 stone already!

You are not alone in the lose/gain cycle. But so long as you accept that permanent changes need to be made there is every reason to believe weight can be lost for good 😊

Here are a few suggestions on how to get the most out of the forum. Please note if you are using the new HU App many of these features are not available so I suggest you use the full website version.

The first place to look is at the Pinned posts section to the right of your screen (bottom if you're using a mobile), read the Welcome Newbie thread first and move through to the challenges, where we hope you'll find at least one that will appeal to you. Move down to the Topics, to find a variety of threads, collated into specific topics for ease of access and we ask that you also 'file' your own threads, so that others won't miss your important news

Have a look at the NHS 12 week plan, as many people have had success with it. Also use the BMI checker to find your target calories, it's important to eat enough. This was a major turning point for me, realising I could eat anything I wanted as long as the calories are accounted for. Don't forget to take your starting measurements and a 'before' picture, as they can be very motivating on days that the scales refuse to co-operate

The forum also have group weigh-ins every day, as well as a new Daily Diary, if you wish to take part. The posts can always be found in the Events section on the 'home' page. And if you just want to chat, to say hello or share any news or struggles then look out for What's Happening Today thread.

You'll notice a grey box next to people's names, these are achievement badges, and as a new member you have a 'Newbie' badge. We've found that to get the best out of this community, we need to be active on the forum, as it's where we exchange information, get motivation and inspiration and make friends. We hope that you'll join us here, regularly, too. If you have any questions please just ask

    Best wishes

  • Hi Claire @Lottie77 I'm a newbie too - I just joined yesterday :) like you I've lost and gained the same few stone over and over again, so this time I'm going to try and make genuine sustainable changes in my life. I'm sure one of the moderators will be in touch with you soon to welcome you aboard 🌷

  • Best of luck to you Chocolateragdoll I'm hoping to do the same this time, easy to loose & too easy to regain so a permanent change in lifestyle is my goal

  • Hi Claire. I am also in Sunny Scotland and have a lot to lose. This is my first big weight loss journey as i have been gaining for about 10y. I was once very fit and a tiny single digit dress size but hey life happens.

I also love food and if given the chance would eat for Scotland.

I will keep an eye out and will be looking for tips since you have done this before

    Good luck

  • Hi shazwatson I find it so easy to loose its the keeping it off once I have no goal thats my problem that and I have a chippy & Chinese literally 30 metres from my door ;)) best of luck to you on your journey also

  • we have 3 x chinese, 2 xchippy a burger place and an indian all beside each other and just mins walk so i know how you feel. I lose weight well providing i exercise but it is keeping it off. my other half is a junk food junkie and well he has no plans to change.

we will do it and keep it off.

  • Hi Claire

Your weight losses have been incredible ... you have proven that you can do this, and you can do it again.

    Best of luck!

  • Thank you Needtodosomething when you add it all up its nearly two adults, I am determined to make it 3rd time last time :D

  • Hi Shaz and Claire I come from Scotland too, isn't it great to think that by next year Scotland will have a lot more fit and healthy women next year when we complete our weight loss.

  • Hey Dipper I for one will be heading to Ayr beach next summer with my bikini on lol well hopefully 😂

  • You go girl, we can all do it with the support and advice on here!!

  • No bikini for me but a walk to the designer outlet for new summer wardrobe.

  • YES Dipper !!!!! Lets remove the stereotype that Scotland has and prove to the rest of the world that we all dont eat deep fried mars bars and Hoagies!!!!!! Both of which I have never understood.

  • Yes I think we should change the stereotypical view too, what is a Hoagie?

  • Donner meat, cheese, sauce in a large wrap i think. My other half eats them. Not my thing. Making me sick to think about it.

  • Haha my 19 year old eats hoagies all the time ;) gives me the boak, she's tried the mars bar too out of curiosity but binned it after the first bite !!! Yuk

  • Hi Lottie77 and welcome :)

Well done for losing 2 stone already, that is absolutely fantastic!

You will receive lots of friendly advice and support here, and will never be on your own, as we are all going through the same journey.

Wishing you all the best and good luck for your first week :)

  • Thank you blackbeauty 😁

  • Good luck and welcome. You know what to do. Now let's do it all together and succeed.

  • Thank you Melhall hoping doing with the support of this forum will help me get it off for good this time :D

  • Hi Lottie , I am also in Scotland, Orkney, where abouts are you?

Let's show everyone we don't eat deep fried everything.

  • Haha yeah that seems to be the consensus about us ;) love deep fried cod & chips but as for mars bars no thanks ;)

I am from Paisley, 7 miles from Glasgow.

  • well to be fair we did invent the deep fried chocolate bar and i am sure we batter fried pizza(scrunchie i think)
