I keep putting this off...

I keep putting this off for multiple reasons. Too many social events planned, working late, no time for meal plans, what's the point in stopping and starting etc etc etc.. these have been the reasons I haven't done this sooner.

But I am doing it. I feel motivated and in control. Its been a wee while since I have felt this way.. it feels good.

I actually don't know what my weight is, I think it may be around the 19 stone mark. This needs to change. My size 20 tops are feeling tight and I refuse to buy any bigger sizes.

Tonight I am going to go back to the gym, I will weigh myself and update this post later. I have set up a kcal tracker to fill in each day so I can monitor what I'm eating. I so so needing to make changes! I'm feeling sluggish and just generally heavy. I want to run about with my kids at the park, not just sit on the bench and watch. I want them to look back and have memories of an active healthy mum.

I have always been a bigger girl.. but confidence has never been an issue. I am big and beautiful! BUT I am loosing that confidence..

My first goal is 7lb. Once I have hit that I will set another. Small steps work best for me.

I have done every diet under the sun, Lighter life, Weight Watchers, Sliming World but I think this may work best for me. I'm a numbers person, I like to keep track of things, I like to find alternatives. I guess I get competitive with myself. That's not a bad thing, is it?! lol

I have so much planned this year. 2 weddings, 3 hen do's, a holiday (I'm already having the fear about that seatbelt!!) and I will be working away more than previously. When I think about it these are very few days where I can not stick to plan (as strictly as I normally would).. so really I have no excuse.

Time to get rid of the bulk!

Hi pickle484 and welcome!

Glad that you have started your journey. I can identify a lot of what you've said - in terms of putting off doing this. You can read more here about my journey!

healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh...

Like you, I've never had an issue with confidence and didn't mind the shape of my body. As you'll see from the picture of me, however much I work on my body shape, it will never conform to "normal", so I've never let it worry me.

HOWEVER, my confidence has been hugely bolstered by my weight loss. I am now able to do so much more in terms of LIVING! I have just returned from an amazing holiday to Botswana - a safari, where we climbed on and off of jeeps, climbed in and out of tiny aircraft (5-12 seaters!).... where being overweight would have been an issue.... I say "climbed" but because of my shortened arms, I rely on my husband to lift me, and there is no doubt that weighing 4 stone less made his life a lot easier!

Having been overweight for all of my life (since the age of 9) I really didn't have a clue as to how being slimmer and weighing less would positively impact on my life.... but it has in so many ways that I just never could have imagined!

I LOVE being able to choose "regular" clothes - I've just come back from being to buy a new lightweight waterproof jacket from an outdoor shop ready for my next adventure holiday and it's so nice to be able to select a women's size 16 instead of a mens x-tra large!

We can all think of excuses as why the time isn't right, as to why this might not be a good time to start, etc. For me it was my disability and inability to exercise... but I now realise, it was just that - excuses.

Look forward to hearing more from you during your journey, and good luck! Make sure you visit the forums often to share your success and seek support when necessary.

Hi pickle484 welcome to the forum. You have chose a great site to join to help you with losing weight. This is the only place that has ever taught me the mistake I had always made before whenever I had tried to lose weight before so this time I am finally managing to lose weight. In case you had ever made this mistake I will make sure you are aware of this too as I have found many people have also been making this same mistake.

When you are working out how many calories to eat every day for you to lose weight, please check out the NHS bmi calculator and this gives you two amounts for you to eat between to be able to lose weight. Do make sure you eat somewhere between this amount but definitely do not eat less than these amounts otherwise your body thinks that you are starving it and it will turn what you do eat into body fat and this weighs more than eating the extra calories does so it stops you from losing weight and sometimes means you put weight on instead. Please don't make this same mistake because I made this mistake for years and always struggled to be able to lose weight and often put weight on. Good luck with your journey.

Ah I got married last year.. you will look the belle of the ball!! Weddings are such an exciting time 😊 I hope the planning is coming along ok?

I couldn't find the tracker so made my own on excel at work! I guess it will work the same 🙈

I had my wee cup of tea but didn't eat the pears.. will do for breakfast with a couple boiled eggs!

Lunch is prepared for tomorrow.. when I say prepared I really mean I have went to Asda! They do a lovely mango chicken salad and sauce for only 131 kcals! So I will have that and a couple of cracker breads with Philly light and some fruit.

My trouble isn't at work.. it's coming home and picking!! No picking tonight though! Hurrah!! 😂

Day one = DONE! ❤

Hi and welcome pickle484 . When it comes to waiting for the right time to start..... there'll never be a perfect time. There'll always be weddings, birthdays anniversaries, easter, holidays etc etc etc. But ask yourself what's the alternative?

When you focus on healthy eating for life, you'll understand that these wonderful occasions make life worthwhile and you can manage to have fun and not throw it all away.

I wish you all the best and keep posting. Your experience will tell you what works well for you and what doesn't, plus I'm sure you have loads of wisdom to share. Looking forward to seeing your posts
