Hi I'm a newbie

Hi everyone out there, I'm not new to trying to lose weight, but I'm a serial yoyo dieter!

I am also aware that my portion control is not good hence I think that perhaps calorie counting will help me with this.

I would like to lose 10st and see how I feel, although I will still be classed as overweight I think.

I'm getting married in December although that is not my focus for losing weight, my joints all hurt and I have arthritis in my left knee that is now causing me a lot of pain.

Hope that some of you will stop and chat as I am interested to see how your doing xx

Hi! Welcome. I know you will feel loads better when you have lost even just a stone. I started at 23 stone, now 16 stone 10 and the difference I feel is amazing. You can do it too and it is so worth it. Get your brain ready, stay determined and focused and by your wedding you will feel amazing and by next summer you will be seriously close to your goal. 🤞

Hi Chick62 and welcome to the weight loss forum :)

You have made the first big step by coming here, so well done :)

In the past i had always been a yo-yo dieter but since joining this forum i control what i eat alot more now, than what i use to.

You will find lots of support and friendly advice here, and everyone is going through the same journey.

I wish you all the best and good luck with your first week :)

Thank you and I feel positive especially as it's a different styled approach to losing weight for me. More controlled portions x

Hello to a fellow serial yoyo dieter :) it's such a pain haha. I can relate to the portion control issue too - my current approach is to just swap out carbohydrates for more vegetables so I can still eat a lot! Calorie counting sounds like a good idea so you can hold yourself accountable for what you're eating. Good luck x

Thank you think I'm going to need it lol x

Congrats o the wedding. I have lots of aches and pains as well. I know I will feel better when I am thinner and you will to. We will all be there for you. Good luck and don't give up.

Hi and welcome

Take a look at the Pinned posts section to the right of your screen (bottom if you're using a mobile), or in the drop down on the 'Posts' page (it says 'arrange by'). Read the Welcome Newbie thread, then move through to the challenges, where we hope you'll find at least one that will appeal to you.

Move down to the Topics, to find a variety of threads, collated into specific topics for ease of access and we ask that you also 'file' your own threads, so that others won't miss your important news.

Have a look at the NHS 12 week plan, as many people have had success with it. Also use the BMI (can be found in the pinned Newbie post) to find your target calories, it's important to eat enough. This was a major turning point for me, realising I could eat anything I wanted as long as the calories are accounted for 😊

Don't forget to take your starting measurements and a 'before' picture, as they can be very motivating on days that the scales refuse to co-operate 😊

To the right of the HOME page (bottom on a mobile), you'll find Events. In there, you'll find links to our daily Weigh-in's (you will choose just one day per week), our Daily Diary, where we post our menu and exercise plans, for accountability, advice and support - which is great to get ideas of what other people are eating and I have to confess to nicking some of their menu's :) and our “What's happening today” thread, where we pop in for a chat.

Be aware, that the HU app doesn't give you access to all of our important features, so we advise that you use the full website page

We've found that to get the best out of this community, we need to be active on the forum, as it's where we exchange information, get motivation and inspiration and make friends. We hope that you'll join us here, regularly, too 😊

Wishing you all the best on your journey :)

Hello and welcome Chick62 😊

You have had a lovely welcome there from our friendly members 😊 Have a good look around, especially at the suggestions Cracker10 made and please just ask if you have any questions 😊

A good starting point would be the Daily Diary

Best wishes

Anna

If you are using the main website (not the App) and are on the 'Home' page (the one with the picture of strawberries along the top) events should be on the right hand side of the screen or right at the bottom if you are on a mobile.

This may help healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh...

If all that fails, just scroll through all the posts on Newsfeed until you find it!! DD and the weigh-in are usually pretty high up the list 😊
