Here's to trying something different

Hi Everyone my name is Donna - I have been doing slimming world for about 18 months but have only lost at my lowest weight - 1 stone this is slowly going back on! Even when I follow the plan i cant seem to loose good amounts of weight - so I am trying this healthy eating plan instead - i am fed up of feeling fat all the time - I am hoping to loose about 1.5-2 stone. I am happy with a 1lb a week loss and am not looking for a fast miracle. Finding the meal mixer app really helpful so lets see what happens!

Hi and welcome, Donna :)

Take a look at the Pinned posts section to the right of your screen (bottom if you're using a mobile), or in the drop down on the 'Posts' page (it says 'arrange by'). Read the Welcome Newbie thread, then move through to the challenges, where we hope you'll find at least one that will appeal to you.

Move down to the Topics, to find a variety of threads, collated into specific topics for ease of access and we ask that you also 'file' your own threads, so that others won't miss your important news.

Take a look at the NHS 12 week plan, as a lot of people have been successful with it, making sure to enter your details into the NHS BMI calculator, to get a calorie allowance tailored to your personal requirements. Don't forget to take your starting measurements and a 'before' picture, as they can be very motivating on days that the scales refuse to co-operate.

To the right of the HOME page (bottom on a mobile), you'll find Events. In there, you'll find links to our daily Weigh-in's (you will choose just one day per week), our Daily Diary, where we post our menu and exercise plans, for accountability, advice and support and our “What's happening today” thread, where we pop in for a chat.

Be aware, that the HU app doesn't give you access to all of our important features, so we advise that you use the full website page.

We've found that to get the best out of this community, we need to be active on the forum, as it's where we exchange information, get motivation and inspiration and make friends. We hope that you'll join us here, regularly, too.

Hi Donna & welcome you've come to the right place. I've only been doing this for 2 weeks (1st week lasted 1day) but this 2nd week I've really stuck to my calorie allowance. Weigh in tomorrow so hope I've done well. I've done slimming world countless times lost good amounts of weight then stopped going & gradually piled the weight back on & a bit more. Thought I'd give this a go I record everything in mfp & I love reading all the posts on here it's really helping. Good luck with your weight loss journey 👍

Slimming world just didn't suit me. I just felt like I was eating all the time! Lost 7lbs over a year! Here on the NHS 12 week plan I've lost 7lbs in 4 weeks. I don't buy special food just eat the same as the family just calorie counted portion size. Good luck!

Smaller portions of family meals is what I want - I got really fed up with all the things you can't have on slimming world. Constantly cooking myself something different to everyone else and all from scratch cooking. At lunch time I nipped to asda had a look at the calorie count of things and aimed for something under 400- so much easier.
