Hi and welcome, Kezzah :)

I suspect that we've all been there, the trick is to just keep trying, until the trying becomes your new norm :)

Take a look at the Pinned posts section to the right of your screen (bottom if you're using a mobile), or in the drop down on the 'Posts' page (it says 'arrange by'). Read the Welcome Newbie thread, then move through to the challenges, where we hope you'll find at least one that will appeal to you.

Move down to the Topics, to find a variety of threads, collated into specific topics for ease of access and we ask that you also 'file' your own threads, so that others won't miss your important news.

Take a look at the NHS 12 week plan, as a lot of people have been successful with it, making sure to enter your details into the NHS BMI calculator, to get a calorie allowance tailored to your personal requirements. Don't forget to take your starting measurements and a 'before' picture, as they can be very motivating on days that the scales refuse to co-operate.

To the right of the HOME page (bottom on a mobile), you'll find Events. In there, you'll find links to our daily Weigh-in's (you will choose just one day per week), our Daily Diary, where we post our menu and exercise plans, for accountability, advice and support and our “What's happening today” thread, where we pop in for a chat.

Be aware, that the HU app doesn't give you access to all of our important features, so we advise that you use the full website page.

We've found that to get the best out of this community, we need to be active on the forum, as it's where we exchange information, get motivation and inspiration and make friends. We hope that you'll join us here, regularly, too.

It's only left for me to wish you well on your journey :)

Hi Kezzah, and welcome. One of the lovely people on here (I forget who, apologies to them) once said - 'Being fat is hard, losing weight is hard. Pick your 'hard'.' It was something that really stuck in my mind.

I haven't had a massive amount of weight to lose, but really wanted to gain control of my out of control eating habits. Being here has made a massive difference, because I have been able to learn from some very clever and very kind people.

So, my advice would be use the forum a lot, join weigh-ins, post in the daily diary, make yourself accountable and also learn all you can from others.

Good luck and I hope to see you about!

Oh, and I still eat chocolate. Just not the whole box anymore - now I thought that was impossible a few weeks ago!

Hi Kezzah and welcome :)

Yes i have done this many of times in the past, but since joining this forum i can deal with it better. Chocolate was always my downfall, and i still eat some now and again but include it within my calories.

Wishing you all the best with your weight loss journey :)

I'm a chocoholic too but limit it to twice a week and then only a small bar. Unless of course my fave giant choc buttons are on special offer :(

Chocolate and food portions are my biggest problems. I've been doing the 12 week plan for three days and finding that having a structured eating plan with protein and carbs at all meals is helping me with cravings. My biggest fail time was lunch and I would walk 5 minutes to the shop to buy three chocolate bars, then eat them all in one sitting. I've been replacing that with three dates after a good lunch and it seems to be working. I hope some good meal planning helps you too.
