Hi all, I'm new here!

I've been working on a healthy eating plan for the last couple of weeks in France. I managed to lose 5lbs the first week and 3lbs the second week! Go me! I weighed in at 13st 7lbs at the start, I'm in my late 50s and around 5ft 2ins tall.

So, my question is; will my flabby skin shrink down as I lose more weight or do I need to do any exercises to help?

I believe weight training helps a lot. Once in my thirties I lost about thirty pounds and you couldn't tell I had ever been overweight. I was a size zero to two. Exercise will give you tone and definition. I have also heard to use lotion on the flabby tummy skin, especially for those who have had children. Good luck!

Thanks Melhall. I have some small weights which I can use but had a complicated hysterectomy some years ago so have to be careful not to do too much pulling on my abdo area due to scar tissue. I will defo try the lotion as well.!

Hi Nannyjules well done on your weight loss so far. Just to let you know I weighed 13st4lbs when I first started and have managed to lose just over 2st so far by calorie counting, I am only 5ft. I can only say how this has happened with myself on the calorie counting, but if you are doing any other type of dieting, especially the ones where you lose weight faster then I cannot say how they will work. I don't have much flabby skin leftover now as I have become much firmer as I have lost a fair bit of my fat, but your skin should go down very slowly with any fat as you only tend to lose around a pound or two a week. It does go a little better if you do some exercise with it as well.

Do make sure you eat enough calories every day as well because by not doing this it can cause you many problems. If you don't eat enough calories your body thinks you are starving it and turns what you do eat into body fat and this weighs more than eating the extra calories does so it stops you from losing weight and sometimes puts weight on instead. It makes most of your body look flabbier in the end as well. Please don't make this mistake. Good luck with your journey.
