A long journey towards healthy weight (2nd stage) week 7-8 review

Hi everyone,

I hope you had a good week of weight loss. I’m always happy to be back on the forum, even I didn’t do well in week8, I lost 0.2 kg in week 7 and put on 1kg in week 8.

Last 2 weeks has been difficult. I mean, I find losing weight in the 2nd stage of my weight loss journey is more difficult. I guess it’s because my body’s used to my reduced calories intake. According to my fitnesspal, my daily calories allowance is 1200, I do find it difficult to stick it. So I’m not denying I often went over the limit, plus I haven’t been good with water intake, didn’t exercise enough due to bad weather. But the biggest problem I had, to look back, was not putting my wellbeing first.

Just like many of you, I’m a busy mum, last two week, before school holiday started, I tried to do as many things as possible. Well I’m well of the fact unless I look after myself and feel good, I bring less happies to others around me, I forgot about this putting my wellbeing first principle.

This week, my target is to remind myself everyday: putting my own wellbeing first! I feel happy when I do the right thing, to me, it’s eat healthy, drink 1.2 L water daily and exercise 150 minutes weekly.

"Women in particular need to keep an eye on their physical and mental health, because if we're scurrying to and from appointments and errands, we don't have a lot of time to take care of ourselves. We need to do a better job of putting ourselves higher on our own 'to do' list." - Michelle Obama

Wish you all a good week!

Jane

Hi Jane you have done so well losing 5 kilos. I am not sure what stage 2 means, but I use myfitnesspal and it always gives target calories at much lower than the NHS BMI site. I log on mfp but use calories from the NHS site. You can change your daily calorie target in the settings of mfp. Before I found this out I struggled to manage on the 1300 I was allowed. I use it now just to give an idea of what I eat, calories, carbs etc. 1200 seems very low to me and I would struggle to keep to it too!

Good luck with stage 2.

Hi wakywoo,

Thanks for sharing your experience. If you're interested in what my 2nd stage mean, check this post healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh...

It's good to know I'm not the only one struggles with mfp's daily calories allowance. While I'll try to put my wellbeing first and be more discipline with calories counting, I do also think 1200 is quite low. I mean, it has to be something sustainable in the long run, otherwise I'll put the weight back on even I lost it. I'll consider 1300 kcal daily next week, which is something between NHS and mfp's recommendation, fingers crossed it will work!
