Here I go - new journey!

Hello,

I am 51 and have put 2 stones on in the last year and cannot shift no matter what I do.

I have also just been placed on HRT. as have experienced some severe menopausal symptoms.

I feel that this is my last hope as I have tried everything and feel really down and have lost all self-esteem.

Hi and welcome

The first place to look is at the Pinned posts section to the right of your screen (bottom if you're using a mobile), read the Welcome Newbie thread first and move through to the challenges, where we hope you'll find at least one that will appeal to you 😊

Move down to the Topics, to find a variety of threads, collated into specific topics for ease of access and we ask that you also 'file' your own threads, so that others won't miss your important news 😊

Have a look at the NHS 12 week plan, as many people have had success with it. Also use the BMI checker nhs.uk/tools/pages/healthyw... to find your target calories, it's important to eat enough. This was a major turning point for me, realising I could eat anything I wanted as long as the calories are accounted for 😊

Don't forget to take your starting measurements and a 'before' picture, as they can be very motivating on days that the scales refuse to co-operate 😊

The forum also have group weigh-ins every day if you wish to take part. The posts can always be found in the Events section on the 'home' page 😊 We also have a daily diary section which is great to get ideas of what other people are eating and I have to confess to nicking some of their menu's :)

We've found that to get the best out of this community, we need to be active on the forum, as it's where we exchange information, get motivation and inspiration and make friends. We hope that you'll join us here, regularly, too 😊

Hi ClaireVaines2017

Welcome to the weight loss forum.

I can understand you feeling low but you have made the first step to lose weight so well done.

Take a look at the Welcome Newbie post in the Pinned post section at the right hand side or at the bottom if your on a mobile. Have a look at the nhs 12 week plan, many members have had success following this plan. Use the BMI checker to work out your daily calorie allowance.

Have a look at the Daily Diary which you can find on the Home page in Events. It is where all the members are sharing their daily plans on what they are eating and any exercise they are doing. This thread will give you some ideas on how to start.

Below the Pinned posts are the Topics where members share a range of weight related subjects.

Take your measurements at the start together with a photo so you can see the changes on the days the scales don't move.

We have daily weigh ins so why not come along and join us today. You can find the weigh ins on the Home page in the Events section on the right. Just click on the post in Events and record your start weight and any loss/gain or maintain for the week.

To get the most of the forum be active, share tips, recipes and experiences. Read some of the posts they are very motivating.

Have a good first week.

Rose

Are you even eating enough calories for yourself to be able to lose weight. When I first joined I was not shifting any weight with any diet and found out that this was because I wasn't eating enough calories as I was only eating around 1000 Cals a day. Check how many calories you should be having on the NHS bmi calculator as this gives personal details rather than averages and if you don't eat somewhere between the amounts it gives you it stops you from losing weight because your body thinks you are starving it and turns what you do eat into body fat and this weighs more than eating the extra calories does so sometimes you even put extra weight on. When I upped my calories to the amounts between the bmi calculator to lose weight I started losing weight and have now lost 2st. Please don't make this same mistake. Good luck with your journey.
