Must try harder?

Lost 7kg last year over 7 months on my own, by cutting out cakes, biscuits and the occasional dessert, before my eldest daughter's wedding. Still weighing myself most days, and recording this on another App, but the graph is going up again ! Consider I eat pretty healthily anyway, but am now fighting to keep the weight off, never mind lose at least another 15kg ......so hence willing to try different approach!

Hi Jules_55

Welcome to the weight loss forum.

Well done with losing 7kgs over the last 7 months that is great going.

Take a look at the Welcome Newbie post in the Pinned post section at the right hand side or at the bottom if your on a mobile. Have a look at the nhs 12 week plan, many members have had success following this plan. Use the BMI checker to work out your daily calorie allowance.

Have a look at the Daily Diary which you can find on the Home page in Events. It is where all the members are sharing their daily plans on what they are eating and any exercise they are doing. This thread will give you some ideas on how to start.

Below the Pinned posts are the Topics where members share a range of weight related subjects.

Take your measurements at the start together with a photo so you can see the changes on the days the scales don't move.

We have daily weigh ins so why not come along and join us today. You can find the weigh ins on the Home page in the Events section on the right. Just click on the post in Events and record your start weight and any loss/gain or maintain for the week.

To get the most of the forum be active, share tips, recipes and experiences. Read some of the posts they are very motivating.

Have a good first week.

Rose

Well there is a bucketload of support and advice here and I heartily recommend joining one of the weekly weigh-ins (there's no admonishment in there, only encouragement).

I keep a food diary, it was quite enlightening at first, but has made my meal planning easier and given me motivation. I track everything about my diet daily. I include all of the amounts in the nutritional information and track it against my targets for each. I give each meal a rating for taste and satisfaction (reducing it depending on how long before I am hungry again. I've found that low carb and high protein meals keep me sated for longer and they're lower calorie.

You don't need to go into that much detail, but it is very helpful to track your calorie intake, your weight and your waistline. They can be an eye opener and a motivational tool. Quite often your waistline will reduce while you don't seem to be losing weight.

There are lots of daily meal planning posts to have a look at (maybe join) and some good options for a tasty meal plan of your own.

Good luck!

Welcome Jules.

For what it's worth, I followed the NHS 12 week plan (still do) that Rose has mentioned and lost 18kgs in 5 months.

Staying in regular contact with this forum is a strong motivator.

You've already lost a good amount of weight on your own so you can definitely do this.

All the best.
