Hello all, hope you are having a good day! I have stumbled across this and feel really positive about getting involved. I am 43 with an 11 & 9 yr old. My 11 year old has autism. I'm an emotional eater - I'll eat if tired, sad, stressed and happy - & occasionally if I'm hungry . I have some very long term snacking and overeating habits and would love ❤️ to learn better ways to manage my eating and set new goals. I'm on an iPad- but cannot see the pinned posts or challenges!? Probably me. Good luck all, let's take a day at a time and see how it goes.......🤞

Welcome, a moderator will be along shortly no doubt to help. It's good to have you here.

My best advice is to start recording everything you eat. Seeing it in front of you, the amount of calories you are consuming, helps a great deal to manage your intake.

Secondly, as you said, take each day at a time. Concentrate on small, manageable goals that form into one big picture. It's much easier to change your habits a little at a time, rather than having the possibility that you are setting yourself up for a fall and then giving up completely because you feel you've let yourself down.

Thirdly, don't give up on snacking. Just change what you are snacking on. Celery, cucumber and carrot are good, especially when dipped into low fat hummus. :)

Hi daisyollie1

Welcome to the weight loss forum.

If you are using one of the apps they do not have all the forum on them so please log on to the main site.

Take a look at the Welcome Newbie post in the Pinned post section at the right hand side or at the bottom if your on a mobile. Have a look at the nhs 12 week plan, many members have had success following this plan. Use the BMI checker to work out your daily calorie allowance.

Have a look at the Daily Diary which you can find on the Home page in Events. It is where all the members are sharing their daily plans on what they are eating and any exercise they are doing. This thread will give you some ideas on how to start.

Below the Pinned posts are the Topics where members share a range of weight related subjects.

Take your measurements at the start together with a photo so you can see the changes on the days the scales don't move.

We have daily weigh ins so why not come along and join us today. You can find the weigh ins on the Home page in the Events section on the right. Just click on the post in Events and record your start weight and any loss/gain or maintain for the week.

To get the most of the forum be active, share tips, recipes and experiences. Read some of the posts they are very motivating.

Have a good first week.

Rose

Hi jopo, I actually would be happy to lose a stone! I'm 11st3 & 5ft 8. In 2000 I lost 4.5 stones with WW & for the most have kept it off. I know 1 stone doesn't sound much but it's my eating habits as well - I have acid reflux & on long term medication for this .Some days feel rubbish. Would love to feel a bit healthier. How do I access a weigh in? Do you choose a weigh in day once a week. Thank you for replying ❤️

Oh that's amazing daisyollie1 :)

yes it's a great idea to jump straight on that stone, it's soooo easy to put the weight loss back on.

Our weigh ins are held every day but you need to pick a day and stick to it. I chose Wednesday (Wednesday Wobble Warriors). I think Saturday is full at the moment. Have a look at my posts and you'll get the gist.

Great to have you on board. :) X

Thank you 😊 jopo, really helpful, just trying to navigate my way round! I'm off to find the Wednesday warriors!! 1 stone or 5 stone - it still can make you feel rubbish and my waist line is expanding by the day!! Have a good day and hope I haven't disturbed you too early- just realised the time!! 😀😀😀

I am an early bird most mornings :)

yes I know what you mean .... You know when you feel a little out of control and it spirals so quickly. The trick is with this forum is to get and stay engaged with us, post as much as you need to. No one judges, it's just an amazing friendly forum supported by people just like you.

To tag someone just put the symbol @ in front of their name, it will turn blue and you just click on it.

Good luck with today's healthy choices, It's not a diet it's a lifestyle :) :) X

The Wednesday Weigh in post will be put up on the general thread by 10am Tuesday night. Most people reply on the thread between 7.30 and 11am. It takes a few days to work it all out but keep going you will find it easy peasy eventually daisyollie1 . Xx :)

I have acid reflux too, I've had the dreaded gastroscopy (singularly the most uncomfortable time in my life, easily outdoing the time I mistook my other half's cousin for her and went up behind her and gave her a cuddle - in front of her husband) and was taking two pantoprazole every day. I don't take tablets any more, I went on a mission to find what foods were irritating it and remove them and modified my bed so I sleep propped up every night.

It's not easy is it? Yes I've had two gastroscopy's now. Nothing untoward found. I sleep propped up as well and I take omeprazole at night. My main reflux is at night and I often get a sore throat but I'm determined to overcome it. I eat lots of nuts which I really need to give up. It's a large part of the reason I'm on here 😀 Well done for coming off your medication.

Hello daisyollie1 I have just read your post and not sure if you know how to access weigh in days. At the top of this page hit the 'homepage' tab then on the right under the 'pinned posts' you will find the daily weigh in thread plus the daily food diary thread.

Today is obviously the Fabulous Feelgood Friday Folk weigh in and if you would like to join you would be more than welcome. (I am slightly partisan as this is my weigh in day). It is a very chatty and supportive group.

However, another day might be better for you to weigh but the method is the same. On the day you wish to weigh, access that day's thread as already explained. You weigh yourself at home, then post the weight with any loss or gain. Simples!

Best wishes on your journey. EJ

Sorry, that should be under 'EVENTS' which is below 'pinned posts'. Doh!!
