I'm Back

Been a while since I was on here, had a lot going on since I last posted, I even tried committing suicide, but fortunately I was unsuccessful, after a long recovery period it's time to that let people know that life is for living. Still have weight issues but I can now manage my depressing, and this in turn is helping me loss weight, as in my case the 2 went hand in hand.... Anyway.. I'm open to questions and would like to help anyone who maybe in the same place..

Hi

Glad your on here and I know you will get lots of support. Just wondering if you have got any other help with friends or family, and if you have spoken to your local GP. Have you seen or plan to see a councillor ? 😊🤗

Sorry I misread your post and glad that you are managing everything now 🙂

Hi... Actually talking to people is a massive help.. Bottling things inside is the worst thing you can do, asking for help also is a big step forward, being obese is not good, but being obese and depressed is a combination for disaster...

I'm really glad you're in a better place now :) you may find your post removed as I know on other parts of the forum it happens when that subject comes up..

I think being truly overweight or obese almost goes hand in hand with low mood and other mood disorders. Are you being given support with weight loss now as well as your depression? I hope it is working for you.

Hi and welcome to the forum.

Take a look at the Pinned posts section to the right of your screen (bottom if you're using a mobile), or in the drop down on the 'Posts' page (it says 'arrange by'). Read the Welcome Newbie thread, then move through to the challenges, where we hope you'll find at least one that will appeal to you.

Move down to the Topics, to find a variety of threads, collated into specific topics for ease of access and we ask that you also 'file' your own threads, so that others won't miss your important news.

Take a look at the NHS 12 week plan, as a lot of people have been successful with it, making sure to enter your details into the BMI calculator, to get a calorie allowance tailored to your personal requirements. Don't forget to take your starting measurements and a 'before' picture, as they can be very motivating on days that the scales refuse to co-operate.

We run a weigh-in every day of the week and you'd be very welcome to join one of them. The threads can always be found in the Events section, to the right of the HOME page, bottom on a mobile.

We also run a Daily Diary, where we share our meal and exercise plans for the day. It's a great place to get ideas and to keep us focused. The link can also be found in Events.

Be aware, that the HU app doesn't give you access to all of our important features, so we advise that you use the full website page.

We've found that to get the best out of this community, we need to be active on the forum, as it's where we exchange information, get motivation and inspiration and make friends. We hope that you'll join us here, regularly, too.

I am so pleased you are moving in the right direction now😊👍 I have been a member here for over a year and after suffering depression and being at my lowest found this site which has been the only way in all my life I have managed to lose weight and keep motivated to do so. Don't get me wrong it's a bit like sailing the seas sometimes the goings good, sometimes it gets difficult but coming onto the forum really helps even if it's just to read others posts

Please work alongside your GP tell them about your new weight loss journey and also I hope you are having treatment for depression too.

Lots of healthy foods can help with depression also we need food nutrients in to keep all our functions going just like a car needs different thing to keep it on the road.

I hope you find us a helpful bunch please take as much advice as you need and indeed give any advice you can to others who need it. You are not alone in your weight loss journey we are all here for the same reason. Good luck, choose a weigh in day and your new lifestyle starts then. 👍

PS

I can see you started here a couple of years ago, just posted the welcome bit as things may have changed since then as there is a new daily diary etc if you wish to join that too.

Morning Hidden

Welcome back I'm happy to hear your in a better place now and I hope you are getting plently of support from your GP and family.

I am sending you the welcome information as a lot as change since you were last here. There is a lot of support and encouragement for you here on the forum so keep in touch. I would suggest that you join today's weigh in as they are all such a friendly chatty lot and I think you would get some much needed support there for your weight loss journey.

Take a look at the Welcome Newbie post in the Pinned post section at the right hand side or at the bottom if your on a mobile. Have a look at the nhs 12 week plan, many members have had success following this plan. Use the BMI checker to work out your daily calorie allowance.

Have a look at the Daily Diary which you can find on the Home page in Events. It is where all the members are sharing their daily plans on what they are eating and any exercise they are doing. This thread will give you some ideas on how to start.

Below the Pinned posts are the Topics where members share a range of weight related subjects.

Take your measurements at the start together with a photo so you can see the changes on the days the scales don't move.

We have daily weigh ins so why not come along and join us today. You can find the weigh ins on the Home page in the Events section on the right. Just click on the post in Events and record your start weight and any loss/gain or maintain for the week.

To get the most of the forum be active, share tips, recipes and experiences. Read some of the posts they are very motivating.

Have a good first week.

So pleased you hear that you are getting support for your depression and that things are improving for you. I have personal experience of depression and currently going through some truly awful times with my son who is in a bad place. It takes courage to ask for help and you have shown that you can do that. Keep going and there will be forward movement as you have seen. Big hugs.

Hello there ! I have depression, (( thankful to say I'm well ATM)) I've read others posts above..... you can see for yourself what a genuinely kind and supportive group this is 🙂 I agree that working 'with' your health professionals is vital. I can't see any reason why you won't be able to lose weight ...... it just may take you longer.... meds, genetics, metabolic changes, can effect weight loss, but it can STILL be done ....... Patience is something you may need to nurture, but that's ok isn't it...... I'll PM you if that's ok with my little mantra, I find it helpful....

You are not alone in your battle my friend ❤️
