ok I'm 40 something and have rarely needed to go to the doctors. I have always been big, but healthy, since 2 birth control implant 3 years ago not had blood pressure taken since then, last year I started to get headaches only one a every 4 months or so, pattern same get up to pee 3-4 am head pounding nausia, eyes sensitive to light, then vomiting due to pain, this goes on till 7-8am by which time exhaused, then sleep til noon felt link a hang over but i dont drink. Also only happened at weekend so didn't do anything about it till effected work day. recently I went to Dr who checked blood pressure, Dr said very high and wants a 24 hour blood pressure monitor fitted. slight tech issue on first fitting as put on arm with implant. So this time will be on right arm. I have been told I need to loose weight and relax. This is the start of the rest of my life

Welcome on the forum and well done for taking a step in the right direction. There are tons of advice on the NHS 12 week plan. A lot of people are here because of their health. I also had to loose weight for health reasons and it worked. As for relaxing, try to join the happiness challenge. It will help you to change your destructive and stressed thought patterns into thankfulness and positivity. Good luck. Next time you see the doctors they will be amazed.

Hi and welcome Vabra

The first place to look is at the Pinned posts section to the right of your screen (bottom if you're using a mobile), read the Welcome Newbie thread first and move through to the challenges, where we hope you'll find at least one that will appeal to you 😊

Move down to the Topics, to find a variety of threads, collated into specific topics for ease of access and we ask that you also 'file' your own threads, so that others won't miss your important news 😊

Have a look at the NHS 12 week plan, as many people have had success with it. Also use the BMI checker nhs.uk/tools/pages/healthyw... to find your target calories, it's important to eat enough. This was a major turning point for me, realising I could eat anything I wanted as long as the calories are accounted for 😊

Don't forget to take your starting measurements and a 'before' picture, as they can be very motivating on days that the scales refuse to co-operate 😊

The forum also have group weigh-ins every day if you wish to take part. The posts can always be found in the Events section on the 'home' page 😊 We also have a daily diary section which is great to get ideas of what other people are eating and I have to confess to nicking some of their menu's :)

You'll notice a grey box next to people's names, these are achievement badges, and as a new member you may have a 'Newbie' badge. If you have any questions or would like a Newbie badge please just ask 😊

We've found that to get the best out of this community, we need to be active on the forum, as it's where we exchange information, get motivation and inspiration and make friends. We hope that you'll join us here, regularly, too 😊
