5 stone weight loss before fertility treatment! HELP!

Hi there. My husband and I recently went to a fertility clinic I was told by my gynecologist that need to lose around 5 stone before they can do any further tests on me. That's the story so far! Before my wedding nearly 2 years ago I managed to lose 3 stone on the Juice Plus diet, so I'm trying that again. I've also started the Couch to 5k regime (difficult because I am obese and have a hip condition - Slipped Upper Femoral Epiphysis). I sometimes cycle, but am put off because I was once knocked over by a HGV and my confidence has gone! Is anyone else in a similar position? Any advice would be much appreciated!

Morning e7marland

Welcome to the weight loss forum.

The liquid diet's you can lose weight fast but after you go bck to eating you can gain it again. I would suggest following a healthy eating plan like the nhs 12 week plan so the weight stays off and is more healthy for you.

Take a look at the Welcome Newbie post in the Pinned post section at the right hand side or at the bottom if your on a mobile. Have a look at the nhs 12 week plan, many members have had success following this plan. Use the BMI checker to work out your daily calorie allowance.

Have a look at the Daily Diary which you can find on the Home page in Events. It is where all the members are sharing their daily plans on what they are eating and any exercise they are doing. This thread will give you some ideas on how to start.

Below the Pinned posts are the Topics where members share a range of weight related subjects.

Take your measurements at the start together with a photo so you can see the changes on the days the scales don't move.

We have daily weigh ins so why not come along and join us today. You can find the weigh ins on the Home page in the Events section on the right. Just click on the post in Events and record your start weight and any loss/gain or maintain for the week.

To get the most of the forum be active, share tips, recipes and experiences. Read some of the posts they are very motivating.

Have a good first week.

Hi there, You can do this , you need to work out your calories per day first and then put some protein in to each meal then green veg, very small amount of carbs, max 2 pieces of fruit , then have snack of nuts not many, yogurt, fruit tea, veg sticks or soup. I managed on this sort of diet to lose my weight, what put it back on was cake chocolate and wine, say no more. I know I have to have them rarely or weight goes back. I have a lovely grandson of 8 who is here after 7 cycles of IVF, my daughter in law was fortunate to have him but what a wonderful achievement.

Hey e7marland - I have tried liquid diets before and found exactly what yellowrose has mentioned - when you start to eat again you pile it all back on!. I have found eating every three hours has worked for me so I am not hungry and then I dont make the wrong choices through being hungry!.

Make sure you get enough water and don't mistake thirst for hunger - try some water first and if you are still hungry have something to eat but don't make snacks too big.

I tend to follow:

Breakfast, Snack, Lunch, Snack, Evening Meal, if hungry small snack

I attend a running club and we also have fitness walking which maybe something to consider if running becomes an issue with your hip condition. I think if we have cycled we can all relate to nearly being knocked off a bike but see if you can find somewhere quieter like a tow path or a country park you could cycle in and reduce your risk.

Good luck and i hope you achieve your goals!
