Hi all. I'm new to this

Hi all. Have booked my usual holiday in October and say every year that I will diet. It never happens. This time, with the support of my fiance, I'm determined.

I have exercised recently but kind of ate whatever and whenever. Working in a receptionist job doesn't really help, as patients like to treat us. This week though, I have resisted the chocolate cake and box of biscuits in the staff room and stuck with my salad. Maybe I do have will power after all!

Glad I found this as I didn't realise under eating calories is not a good idea.

Is it normal to be obsessed with food? I'm even dreaming about it?

Sorry for the long first post. I look forward to this journey on here.

Hi Hidden

Welcome to the weight loss forum.

Take a look at the Welcome Newbie post in the Pinned post section at the right hand side or at the bottom if your on a mobile. Have a look at the nhs 12 week plan, many members have had success following this plan. Use the BMI checker to work out your daily calorie allowance.

Have a look at the Daily Diary which you can find on the Home page in Events. It is where all the members are sharing their daily plans on what they are eating and any exercise they are doing. This thread will give you some ideas on how to start.

Below the Pinned posts are the Topics where members share a range of weight related subjects.

Take your measurements at the start together with a photo so you can see the changes on the days the scales don't move.

We have daily weigh ins so why not come along and join us today. You can find the weigh ins on the Home page in the Events section on the right. Just click on the post in Events and record your start weight and any loss/gain or maintain for the week.

To get the most of the forum be active, share tips, recipes and experiences. Read some of the posts they are very motivating.

Have a good first week.

Rose

Hi and welcome Hidden firstly that is not a long post ;)

Yellowrose has given you some great advice to set you off

have a good look at the daily diaries as they are great for stealing others ideas and most have calories beside them which will give you an idea as you have to remember their portion size may not be what you have :)

Haha you made me smile about being obsessed with food!! I've spent most of my adult life like that. 😊 Now I realise I can eat whatever I want, just have to adjust the portions, I am much more relaxed 😊

Have a good look around the forum and just ask if you have any questions 😊

Anna 😊

Thanks Anna, it's it day 5 for me so I'm hoping the thinking about food lots, will fade soon.

I look forward to getting involved in the forum :)

Welcome to the forum. I am losing weight for my wedding despite the fact that my fiancé and I haven't set a date for our wedding yet. I am currently following Slimming World but weighing in at my mum's house instead of going to the meetings because I am in the process of moving and saving for my wedding. I have lost 7 1/2lbs in the last 5 weeks. I love the forum and I appreciate the support that I get from other forum members as well as family and friends.

Well done on your weight loss Sheryl 1992 :) , a friend at work follows Slimming World, but I can't seem to 'get it'.

I've decided to stop eating rubbish, and try calorie control instead. Like you, I've got support which is fab, and I'm so glad I found this forum. :)

Aw well done for making a start, the reason i started this diet is because im going on hols in October, i work in a nursery and like you get gifts of chocs all the time, i find the way you can stick to this is by planning in advance, i make overnight oats every day and put in fridge for the morning, i take my own snack to work and make my own lunch to save snacking, i make low calorie jellys which are great for the sweetness. I wasnt very good at excersise so i walk every day even it it just to shops and making more trips up the stairs.I find if you plan in advance it will save you cheating. If i can do it anyone can, as i couldnt stop snacking, i started 6 weeks ago and lost 13 pounds, ive tried hundreds of diets and never stuck to it, this Nhs 12 week diet is fab and this forum has really helped me, Hope you have a good week.

Great to meet you Hidden - firstly congratulations on your engagement and for having his support to help you move forwards.

Try not to see this as a diet but as life changes that can be maintained long term.. That way it's not a quick fix to be repeated.. Enjoy your journey and the forum.
