The need for speed

The need for speed

My recent interest in weight loss has been prompted by my enthusiasm for cycling. Being left behind by faster, lighter cyclists is a regular occurrence for me and I've decided it's time to do something about it. I started using the principles in Michael Moseley's book "The Blood Sugar Diet" in May 2017 and am seeing promising results. I weighed exactly 13 stone this morning which is the lightest I've been for a long time. I'm interested in losing more and maintaining that loss while also keeping my strength and speed on the bike.

Welcome to the weight loss forum. It is great when you can find an exercise you really enjoy like cycling and makes it so much easier to get fitter.

Take a look at the Welcome Newbie post in the Pinned post section at the right hand side or at the bottom if your on a mobile. Have a look at the nhs 12 week plan, many members have had success following this plan. Use the BMI checker to work out your daily calorie allowance.

Have a look at the Daily Diary which you can find on the Home page in Events. It is where all the members are sharing their daily plans on what they are eating and any exercise they are doing. This thread will give you some ideas on how to start.

Below the Pinned posts are the Topics where members share a range of weight related subjects.

Take your measurements at the start together with a photo so you can see the changes on the days the scales don't move.

We have daily weigh ins so why not come along and join us today. You can find the weigh ins on the Home page in the Events section on the right. Just click on the post in Events and record your start weight and any loss/gain or maintain for the week.

  • Nice one! You are absolutely on the right track monitor blood sugars. I have been doing the same for the last three years. I started cycling about the same time and have now lost 4stone. However, the majority of the weight loss has come from not having all the sugar spikes an resultant , endocrine response that floods us with Insulin. I have now got into improving/optimising my own performance with Vitamin B12 injections. These have help me take things to a new level in terms of 1. Burning off the remaining fat stores 2. Increasing my Cardiovascular performance. ...So much so that I have just broke my 10mile TT PB by 1:36min on my Road bike with no Aero advantages. Overall fat loss is now 30% (Down from 40% to 10%)
