Well I need to lose weight, and not too sure how to start.

So far I have started using a pedometer, and that is all (6422 )

Not sure what to eat and when.

Hi Igordriver

Welcome to the weigh loss forum.

Take a look at the Welcome Newbie post in the Pinned post section at the right hand side or at the bottom if your on a mobile. Have a look at the nhs 12 week plan, many members have had success following this plan. Use the BMI checker to work out your daily calorie allowance.

Have a look at the Daily Diary which you can find on the Home page in Events. It is where all the members are sharing their daily plans on what they are eating and any exercise they are doing. This thread will give you some ideas on how to start.

Below the Pinned posts are the Topics where members share a range of weight related subjects.

Take your measurements at the start together with a photo so you can see the changes on the days the scales don't move.

We have daily weigh ins so why not come along and join us today. You can find the weigh ins on the Home page in the Events section on the right. Just click on the post in Events and record your start weight and any loss/gain or maintain for the week.

To get the most of the forum be active, share tips, recipes and experiences. Read some of the posts they are very motivating.

Have a good first week.

Hi I have found the NHS 12 week weight loss plan good its free and you can access it via NHS Choices website the Living Well page. It involves counting calories but people are using various weight loss plans- soem I haven't even heard of! I like the 12 week plan since I have not really changed my diet too much but have adjusted my meal combinations so I am consistently eating the same calories approximately each day instead of eating less one day and loads the next. The important thing is to find out thing is to work out what your BMI is and what your calorific intake should be- the living well page has a caloculator you can use. Good luck

Welcome Igordriver, I suggest, once you have read all the information that Rose has sent you, that you get yourself a notebook/journal and start to plan your meals at least the night before. Although you do not have to eliminate completely any foods I would get the food out of the house that you know you wont be able to resist. If you don't have enough 'good food' in then do a shopping list of what you need. The Daily Diary is a great place to go everyday, you will find it in the newsfeed or go to the right hand side of your screen and you will find it in Topics. You will get some lovely ideas for meals from there.

You don't say how much weight you are looking to loose, not that it makes any difference. Set yourself some small goals along your journey and celebrate every one of them with a non food reward.

Take part in the forum and join a weigh in day. You will get so much support.

Wishing you good luck.
