New to the site but not to dieting

Ok, so I've done Sw and Ww online and in meetings but find myself back where I started 6 years ago after having my son. I need to break the cycle of losing and gaining - I know what to do but need to stay focused and positive about my achievements.

I need to lose a considerable amount and this is daunting but I know I can do it with the right attitude, that's the problem at the mo, I don't have a very positive view of myself. I have a busy life and we are doing work to our house so life both at home and work is stressful and I am an emotional eater (show me someone who isn't!!)

SO I'm on here to try again and make a difference, I want to be able to chase about after my son, get my body in shape to try for another baby and above all try to love me!

  • Hi and welcome, Rachael :)

Take a look at the Pinned posts section to the right of your screen (bottom if you're using a mobile), or in the drop down on the 'Posts' page (it says 'arrange by'). Read the Welcome Newbie thread, then move through to the challenges, where we hope you'll find at least one that will appeal to you.

Move down to the Topics, to find a variety of threads, collated into specific topics for ease of access and we ask that you also 'file' your own threads, so that others won't miss your important news.

Take a look at the NHS 12 week plan, as a lot of people have been successful with it, making sure to enter your details into the BMI calculator, to get a calorie allowance tailored to your personal requirements. Don't forget to take your starting measurements and a 'before' picture, as they can be very motivating on days that the scales refuse to co-operate.

We run a weigh-in every day of the week and you'd be very welcome to join one of them. The threads can always be found in the Events section, to the right of the HOME page, bottom on a mobile.

We also run a Daily Diary, where we share our meal and exercise plans for the day. It's a great place to get ideas and to keep us focused. The link can also be found in Events.

Be aware, that the HU app doesn't give you access to all of our important features, so we advise that you use the full website page.

We've found that to get the best out of this community, we need to be active on the forum, as it's where we exchange information, get motivation and inspiration and make friends. We hope that you'll join us here, regularly, too.

It's only left for me to wish you well on your journey :)

  • Hello Rachael and welcome.

moreless has already provided you with a great road map on how you may proceed and it's well worth taking the time to go through everything she's mentioned in some detail.

Don't be down on yourself just because of your body shape and love yourself for the person you are, the one that cares about her other half, her son, her house and all the other great aspects that are part of you.

No need to be daunted either. Set yourself a mini goal of maybe 7lb or something that makes sense to you. Breaking up our journey and feeling proud of ourselves each time we reach one of our goals makes it all much more manageable.

You're working on your house which is great news on the exercise front, you're already making steps in the right direction.... so now you need to concentrate on the other part of the weight loss equation and manage the amount of food and drink you consume.

You can do it and we will all be here for you. Feel free to post any questions, thoughts or feelings (good or bad) and you'll get loads of support.

    Good luck!

  • good luck with the house improvements, I keep thinking it will all be worth it but need to get my head into the right place before house is finished so that I have the energy to paint to all!! We can do this, keep in touch x

  • Thanks Rachael. Good luck too & keep positive, let me know how you are doing.
