Just letting you know ( because you are my best friends that I have never met), that my lovely mum Christine lost her battle against liver cancer this morning. You have all been super supportive and understanding and I really appreciate that. I was lucky enough to be with her and though it breaks my hear to say goodbye,I know that she is now at peace and no longer in pain xxx

  • Oh Jingle_berry im so sorry to hear of your loss. I don't think we've spoken much if at all but felt I needed to send some love.

I lost my dad when he was 54 to liver cancer some years ago so understand what you will have gone through to some extent. She is at peace now. Rest and allow yourself & your family to grieve. It is so nice that you were with her. Your mum will have appreciated it I'm sure.

I know it's not for everyone but my dads funeral director got a specialist in to take some of the sickness colouring out of his face. We agreed as thought my gran was going to visit. She didn't so my mum and I went. It was a bit odd but he looked much better than he had for so long.

I found sunglasses helped at the funeral as I couldn't give anyone eye contact for months afterwards.

I hope I haven't overstepped the mark with the above. Just trying to be helpful x

Again so sorry for your loss.

    Xx

  • So sorry Jingle_berry . You've clearly been a great support to your mother and have helped her manage this last part of her life.

It's so hard watching someone you love struggle with illness, you must be exhausted now.

You'll have loads to do now - all the paperwork and organising - so don't forget to look after yourself too.

Hugs to you and your family.

  • Very sad to hear of your loss Jingle_berry - losing your mother is such a painful event, but how wonderful that you were there with her right up to the end. Be gentle with yourself for a while - time does help heal, but slowly πŸ’

  • Oh Jb, I'm so sorry! I know that this is something that you've been expecting for some time now, but that doesn't make it any less shocking.

Be comforted from the fact that you were able to spend time with her at the end and say your goodbyes and that she knew just how much you loved her.

Rest in peace, Christine, your wonderful nature, lives on in your daughter. xx

  • Heartfelt condolences on the loss of your mom. Even tho you know she is now at rest, it doesn't lessen your grief and loss. Time will help but in the meanwhile allow yourself to grieve. I too have lost my mom but I love my memories and even tho it took a long time, I can now talk about her without that awful feeling of loss. You are in my thoughts. Xxx

  • Peace be with you and your beloved mother

  • As ever, this forum and its wonderful members have given me the most enormous hug and support.

Thank you all for your kind words. I can't quite believe that I'm not going to see my mum again, but I am really lucky that we had such a great relationship and already happy memories are peeping through. I've added one of my favourite photos of us together at the beginning of my post - couldn't figure out how to do it anywhere else!!!

Lots of love to you all πŸ˜˜πŸ˜˜πŸ˜˜πŸ˜˜πŸ˜˜πŸ˜‰
