Hello ewilson16 and welcome to the Weight Loss Forum 😊

Well done on taking that first most important step 😊

You already know that emotions are one of your triggers so that is very helpful,in learning how to manage.

Low blood sugar is often caused by eating too little and not often enough or eating food too high in carbohydrate or sugar. Getting this balance right can be tricky but there are some very knowledgable people on here who will advise you. The new Daily Diary is also a great resource 😊

Here are a few suggestions on how to get the most out of the forum. Please note if you are using the new HU App many of these features are not available so I suggest you use the full website version.

The first place to look is at the Pinned posts section to the right of your screen (bottom if you're using a mobile), read the Welcome Newbie thread first and move through to the challenges, where we hope you'll find at least one that will appeal to you ☺

Move down to the Topics, to find a variety of threads, collated into specific topics for ease of access and we ask that you also 'file' your own threads, so that others won't miss your important news ☺

Have a look at the NHS 12 week plan, as many people have had success with it. Also use the BMI checker to find your target calories, it's important to eat enough. This was a major turning point for me, realising I could eat anything I wanted as long as the calories are accounted for ☺

Don't forget to take your starting measurements and a 'before' picture, as they can be very motivating on days that the scales refuse to co-operate ☺

The forum also have group weigh-ins every day, as well as a new Daily Diary, if you wish to take part. The posts can always be found in the Events section on the 'home' page ☺

You'll notice a grey box next to people's names, these are achievement badges, and as a new member you have a 'Newbie' badge. We've found that to get the best out of this community, we need to be active on the forum, as it's where we exchange information, get motivation and inspiration and make friends. We hope that you'll join us here, regularly, too. If you have any questions please just ask ☺

Best wishes

Anna

Thank you :) I'll navigate around to familiarise myself :) , Yes it's a hard on to balance , I tend to get it alot when I diet so I will have to find a balance that doesn't waste my calories , the BMI counter says to eat 1800 a day but if doubt I'd loose at that? I was thinking more 1000 -1200 :/ ?

Definitely do not go that low with your calories. It will not help you at all. For years I struggled to lose weight and was eating around 1000 Cals per day. I never lost weight and could never understand it. I found out on here that by eating this low your body thinks that you are trying to starve it so it will then turn what you do eat into body fat to ensure that it will have enough in it to keep going. Body fat weighs more than what the extra calories you could eat does and also turns everywhere in your body flabbier because of the fat. I then started to eat the amount stated by the bmi calculator and I have now almost lost 2st. I am so much happier. You will get there.

Thank you :) also huge well one on loosing 2 stone!! Ive rechecked the BMI calories it says to stay between 1800 and 2200 , will I definatley loose weight on this amount as I wouldn't say I eat anywhere near that normally and Ive put on 6 stone ? :/

Thanks, Yes, I would say you should have somewhere in between, do you know how many you normally have or are you just guessing. I didn't realise I was only eating about 1000 Cals to start with and thought I was eating more. It is a shock to find out the Cals in some things you have and others that you think are a lot more can quite often be fairly low. If you are just guessing the way I worked it out was just looking up all the sorts or items I ate and finding out the calories on them through my fitness pal app as this is free and you can get so much information with this and also scan packets for the full cal info on it.

Even if you have been eating more than this it will be safer to eat between this amount as this is set to lose weight for you personally as it compares it all to your weight, age etc, it does state the comment with it just above I think it is. It says something along the lines of to lose weight have and then states calorie amounts. Hope this helps and good luck with your loss!
