Newbie here

Hi everyone. I've been reading posts and having a look around and the forum looks great, so I'm being brave and posting a hello. I need to lose around 9 -10kg, not huge, but what I really want to do is conquer my sometimes uncontrollable urges to eat and inability to make good choices. I know how to eat well and stay healthy and mostly do, but then just give in and eat whatever is unhealthy that I can find when no-one is around. I really like all food but especially the unhealthy stuff. I'm afraid that after a lifetime of sticking around a a healthy weight, I'm now just slowly gaining and gaining and can't seem to stop it. So I'm here to look for support, motivation, and mostly inspiration from you wonderful people!

Morning Salcheq

Welcome to the weight loss forum.

Take a look at the Welcome Newbie post in the Pinned post section at the right hand side or at the bottom if your on a mobile. Have a look at the nhs 12 week plan, many members have had success following this plan. Use the BMI checker to work out your daily calorie allowance.

Have a look at the Daily Diary which you can find on the Home page in Events. It is where all the members are sharing their daily plans on what they are eating and any exercise they are doing. This thread will give you some ideas on how to start.

Below the Pinned posts are the Topics where members share a range of weight related subjects.

Take your measurements at the start together with a photo so you can see the changes on the days the scales don't move.

We have daily weigh ins so why not come along and join us today. You can find the weigh ins on the Home page in the Events section on the right. Just click on the post in Events and record your start weight and any loss/gain or maintain for the week.

To get the most of the forum be active, share tips, recipes and experiences. Read some of the posts they are very motivating.

Have a good first week.

Hello and welcome Salcheq 😊

Well done on tackling the 10kg before it becomes a bigger issue. I hope you have had chance to have a good look around the forum and at the links Rose suggested.

We are all here because we like food! But I'll tell you a secret, I still do, and eat all my favourites, the only difference is I am now accountable, everything is portion controlled. We are all different and some people need to give up things completely because once they start they cannot stop. what you will have to do is decide which way works for you. Some foods are particularly difficult to control, sugar for example, but imsuggestbyou try to think about whynyounhave these blips, what is causing the loss of control. And then find a solution. Remember, our brains are our best ally. 😊

Best wishes
