I binge eat daily and its starting to really get to me. Hoping this will help.......admitting it is the first step I guess! I don't mind walking but that's the height of my exercise. Junk food is my evil secret. Any helping or wise words welcome!

Hi allycan

Welcome to the weight loss forum.

The first step is always the hardest so well done.

Take a look at the Welcome Newbie post in the Pinned post section at the right hand side or at the bottom if your on a mobile. Have a look at the nhs 12 week plan, many members have had success following this plan. Use the BMI checker to work out your daily calorie allowance.

Have a look at the Daily Diary which you can find on the Home page in Events. It is where all the members are sharing their daily plans on what they are eating and any exercise they are doing. This thread will give you some ideas on how to start.

Below the Pinned posts are the Topics where members share a range of weight related subjects.

Take your measurements at the start together with a photo so you can see the changes on the days the scales don't move.

We have daily weigh ins so why not come along and join us today. You can find the weigh ins on the Home page in the Events section on the right. Just click on the post in Events and record your start weight and any loss/gain or maintain for the week.

To get the most of the forum be active, share tips, recipes and experiences. Read some of the posts they are very motivating.

Have a good first week.

Hey mcc 13, welcome to the site. Ok, you know you've got an unhealthy eating habit, first step checked, you've come here for some help, second step checked.

Third step, give yourself a reality check. Get your details entered into the BMI calculator, that will let you know how many calories per day your body needs to keep going. Then use the calorie counter and figure out what you are eating per day now, before you start the plan. If you are binge eating then I suspect you will be well over the limit. Junk food, convenience food, on the whole it's got a lot of hidden calories we just don't need. Healthy eating can be achieved in the time it takes to prepare a fast meal, you just need to know the tricks. Fresh produce, vegetables and fruit will be your mainstays, the junk food is doing you no favors at all

Then you need to figure out how you get your intake reduced, search the forums, there's meal plans, tips and tricks, but in the end you need to be in control. There are ways of substituting unhealthy snacks and cakes and biscuits but it will take willpower and effort. Join in the discussions, it's a very friendly and supportive site, the more you share, the more help you'll get. And be honest with yourself, we all have our bad days, but make sure that you log everything you do and eat, everything!

Remember this is not a diet plan, it's a healthy eating plan, making the right choices is going to reduce so many health related risks, make you feel and look better, what do you say, you want to be in on that?

Good luck and all the best.

thank you so much for that, sometimes I think I just need someone else to tell me I'm doing wrong rather than "oh its ok, its just a bun/biscuit...." Little do they know the secret scoffing that goes on! I know I need to think about everything I eat as at the minute half the stuff doesn't even register! Looks like this place is a good place to be! Thanks again!

Once you believe you have the power to change it, and you do, it doesn't matter where we start. What matters is that you give yourself a goal and work towards it. When I started I didn't have access to scales, so I'm just not weighing myself, I'm not focusing on that 'loss' every week. It's freed me up to concentrate on what I am eating, and trying to make sure that improves.

Some people turn out to be abstainers, they can't have a treat in the house because if they have one they'll finish the packet, others turn out to be moderators, they can have stuff available, and they can have some, but in healthy portions and part of their calorie allowance. This plan does not ban any food, it is possible to still have your favorite thing, just not too much of it. Once you get your head round that concept it becomes easier.

Stick at it.

just want to say a huge thanks to you for sharing your wise words with me almost two wks ago. This plan has gone so good so far. My first wk loss was a shocking 7lb and I'm looking forward to seeing the scales on Friday. i haven't binged once which is like a miracle as the old me could only last about 4 days! I've started to really THINK about what im eating before i eat as opposed to eating it then worrying about it. So, so far so good, won't say my positivity will last forever but finally i think I'm on the right path! Thanks so much!💪😁

That is such an amazing result, and it was all down to you at the end of the day. You're well on the way to 'retraining' your brain regarding eating habits, don't fall into the trap of thinking you're doing great and slacking off, stay focused.

I'm well chuffed for you allycan, looking forward to more news of your success, stay active on the forum, it's a great help and a great boost when you've had a great day. Keep it up.

I have problems knowing when to stop too! Have you spoken to any professionals? Youtube have some great dancing videos that you could move around to in the sitting room to distract you? I love zumba, I can't do the very fast bits but I can definitely jiggle about a bit and always feel a lot better afterwards. Best of Luck:-)))

no I haven't spoken to anyone. I had considered going go the GP but I was scared of what I'd be told. So I will try this first to see if I can reign myself in a bit! I like the thought of the Zumba, so later on tonight when kids r in bed I think I'll close the blinds and jiggle! Thanks for the tip!

I have found myself getting heavier gradually since my hysterectomy and even more so since giving up the cigs! It's really not easy but I suppose it was never meant to be easy! ☺

It's great fun and would be even more fun for anyone watching!🤣 thank you so much for the suggestion, think ill do it again and maybe even get to know a couple of the moves!💪
