Hello Rick and welcome.

You haven't really said how quick you wish to lose weight. Most people here will tell you that the best way is for a sensible steady loss. Anything else could be physically 'bad' for you. Additionally it may lead to yo-yo dieting, tending to leave the dieter heavier in the long term.

An administrator will reply to you, setting out a potential road map for lifestyle change that many of us are following plus a guide on how to get the best from this site.

Good luck!

It's two months and the goal is 2 stone

What do you mean by quick? Intermittent fasting can help you but it's tough. Google it - it's something Michael Moseley is behind I believe but it definitely works. Keep active, cut out dairy, white bread, potatoes, sugar and you should get results.

Welcome Rickdavies55 you can lose 2 stone quickly. However for many of us quickly isn't the goal - permanently is the goal. A permanent move to a healthier lifestyle. Quick fixes won't give you that. I guess it's what is important to you losing the weight for a particular event can weigh on our minds and cause lots of anxiety but the healthier and sustainable way to lose weight is 1-2 a week. I don't even do that on average I lose 3lb a month but I have lost over l.7 stone in nearly a year and haven't given up. Why don't you read through the pinned posts for newbies there are some interesting links to information on this. I wish you luck and determination 😊

Hello Rickdavies55 and welcome to the Weight Loss Forum 😊

Losing weight is about having a calories deficit but unfortunately if you try to lose weight quickly you often gain it back just as quick. I suggest if you aim to lose 1-2lbs a week but try to sustain this loss you will feel better very quickly. Losing 5% of our body weigh makes a significant difference.

Here are a few suggestions on how to get the most out of the forum. Please note if you are using the new HU App many of these features are not available so I suggest you use the full website version.

The first place to look is at the Pinned posts section to the right of your screen (bottom if you're using a mobile), read the Welcome Newbie thread first and move through to the challenges, where we hope you'll find at least one that will appeal to you ☺

Move down to the Topics, to find a variety of threads, collated into specific topics for ease of access and we ask that you also 'file' your own threads, so that others won't miss your important news ☺

Have a look at the NHS 12 week plan, as many people have had success with it. Also use the BMI checker to find your target calories, it's important to eat enough. This was a major turning point for me, realising I could eat anything I wanted as long as the calories are accounted for ☺

Don't forget to take your starting measurements and a 'before' picture, as they can be very motivating on days that the scales refuse to co-operate ☺

The forum also have group weigh-ins every day, as well as a new Daily Diary if you wish to take part. The posts can always be found in the Events section on the 'home' page ☺

You'll notice a grey box next to people's names, these are achievement badges, and as a new member you may have a 'Newbie' badge. If you have any questions or would like a Newbie badge please just ask ☺

We've found that to get the best out of this community, we need to be active on the forum, as it's where we exchange information, get motivation and inspiration and make friends. We hope that you'll join us here, regularly, too ☺

Best wishes

Anna
